A clash of Monsters and Men. (Group mission)

Mission Info:

The mission today is a simple assassination of a diplomat from the Moon village, one Kasuragi Hijime. He is an influential merchant and avid lover of nature and animals. So much so that his specific reasoning fro wanting to be assigned as an envoy to the Sun village was so that he could see their famous menageries for himself as well as the local wildlife. He goes out quite frequently with his retinue to the various regions nearby the village on safari to satiate his curiosity. He also happens to have a certain.... predilection for children and has been targeted by the Blaze for this reason given the disappearances of late, the fact that he is an asset to the Moon village is just a bonus.

The day was just starting for Gen as he rose from his bed in the estate, a place he thought he would never live in again. Looking out into the morning sunrise as darkness was breaking into light, the warm and cool light of the rising sun cascading over the onsen's water and zen gardens of the property, visible from his window. Birds flitted by and chirped adding more to the natural beauty of the compound as he woke up. Roughly ten minutes went by before he rose from his bed and stretched, moving into some of the basic yoga poses and moves Kannagi had started him with.

Once he was centered and limber he would walk out from hi room into the kitchen area of the home, his thigh high sleeping shorts all that he wore. Making a pot of jasmine tea he would prepare a dish of fried rice and steak from the night before's leftovers, mixing in some cracked eggs as he swirled them about his wok. When done he would serve two bowls, one for himself and one for Sojiro, placing a lid over Soji's so it wouldn't get cold. Eating his bowl with gumption he finished it quickly and washed it before heading back upstairs, tea in hand. Entering into his bathroom he would gather his typical clothing for the day before taking another sip of his tea and enjoying the liquid. Once he finished his cup, he would take a shower and prepare himself.

After getting dressed he would head out into the courtyard and wait for Sojiro, as they had a long day ahead of them. They were to follow a diplomat from the Moon village today and while he went on safari out into the silk sand coast, assassinate him and his entourage, making it look like local bandits had raided them. The task itself didn't sit well with him but it was their duty to do so and the village was counting on them to carry out any and all tasks presented to them. He also happened to have been informed that this man in particular had a fascination with children and that was all Gen needed to know to feel less guilty about what he was about to do.

Unlike Genkumaru, it wasn't the sound of birds or the beautiful sunlight breaking through the night that woke Sojiro up in the morning. As it was currently, Sojiro was in a fairly large room that was once a living room but he had taken over as his own lab while at home, conducting a series of experiments and tests. The make sure that nothing was affected by outside effects, the windows had been sealed and covered by black tarp so that nothing could get through and instead was completely lit by artificial light. Sojiro had never actually gone asleep the night before, instead having decided to stay up and continue to work throughout the night on some new personal projects. So, when it was finally time for him to get away from his work, there was a small clock that would go off with an alarm, "Tsk... Morning, already?" The man asked to himself, a bit annoyed.

As Sojiro would open one of the two sets of doors that led into the study, it would expose the man in a white lab coat and clothing the match. One could say that it was weirder to see Sojiro wearing so much clothing but lab safety was no joke, especially when a person was crossing into the territories that Sojiro was. The man would lock the doors of his lab behind him, slowly rolling his shoulders as he moved down the hall and eventually to his bedroom. His morning went a bit in the opposite direction of Gen's, starting off with a shower to get the sweat and work from the night before off his body. By the time that he got out the shower, the smell of cooked food hit his nose and he knew that Gen had decided to whip them up breakfast. With a content breath and only a towel around his waist, Sojiro would move to the kitchen so that he could eat breakfast.

For someone that was terrible at taking compliments, Gen's food was pretty damn good and he would have to remember to thank him. Today's mission was just another mission for Sojiro, it wasn't something that had messed with his moral compass at all. If anything, the mission as a whole intrigued him more than anything else. Sojiro was sure that, whoever this person was, while he make have a desire to scar children for life... Sojiro didn't think that this person was actually responsible for the missing children. He had seen enough of the missing children cases, even ones that weren't reported to the village, to know that this guy's M.O. was something else. But, that didn't really matter. He had a mission to do.

Sojiro would come out in his usual attire with a bag over his shoulder, containing a change of clothes for them they get closer to the man. As he came out into the courtyard, he'd offer a wave to Genkumaru, "Oi, so, sleeping any better being back in your childhood home yet?"

As he waited for Sojiro to come out, he would turn around on the stone railing he had been leaning against as he was facing the house, and now faced the koi ponds. Staring at the fish as they went about their day, their lives so meaningless and basic in comparison. Was assassination much like killing an animal for food? Was it really that simple of a mental switch to just accept the death of another as being simple and meaningless? He had killed before but only because the situation had become violent and required it. He had not been sent yet to kill someone in such a clandestine and discreet manner, not to mention that he didn't know if this man truly deserved death. He was a diplomat after all? He wasn't like the bandits that he had faced before. However, what if the rumors about him touching children were true? Then that was all the reason he needed to end him.

Lost within his own mental reasoning for his currently still fine tuned moral compass, he didn't even hear Sojiro creep up on him until he talked. Patting the railing with his hands, he stood up straight and clapped his hands together gently before begging to leave their new home and answering Sojiro's question, "The last time I lived here I was just an infant, and I never thought I would live here again... It is much to large a place for one person Sojiro. If it wasn't for you and Kanna this would have remained unused, and I am sure eventually the village would have asked to buy the land from me for some renovation or new clan that showed distinction.", something was clearly different with Gen since his near death experience and the forest. He was stronger, more confident, but also devoid of some of the kindness he had once expressed so openly.

As they progressed through the village and outside of the gates, they would travel along the northern river leading them towards their target. On their travels they would pass by Gen's old home, an octagonal shaped oriental building built along the river bank. A young family lived there now, as Gen had given it to one of the workers at the orphanage, who had previously lived in a ramshackle hut in the slums. Him and his wife and their children could be seen playing outside and their laughter carried on the wind. Looking proudly at the result of his charity he smiled briefly before his force converted once more to its more stoic appearance as of late.

Progressing through the region they would eventually come to the coast and the sound of a large party could be heard. As they crept along the dunes, they would eventually see the Xianghe Beach and its new inhabitants, twenty or so guards and the retinue of Kasuragi Hijime. A variable traveling pleasure palace seemed to have been set up and a mass of throbbing bodies seemed to be having all sorts of fun and debauchery within. Several local animals were tied up to posts and littered the area, seemingly captured for his amusement and entertainment. This was the real face of Kasuragi Hijime it seemed. "Your call Sojiro.", he had begun lettign Sojiro be in charge of him on all missions as of late unless it was stated otherwise.

Sojiro had no quarrel with killing people and that would be obvious the more missions that the two brothers got sent on. There was nothing wrong with being unsure about taking a life, the way that Genkumaru was sometimes, if anything it was probably the right thing to do. Was it wrong that it didn't bother Sojiro the same way that it seemed to bother others? Sojiro would softly shake his head to push those thoughts to the side while he was taking in the sights as they traveled. There wasn't too much to talk about, at least not of actual value, most of it being casual chatter between friends.

When the duo had gotten closer to their location, Sojiro would have taken some time to change his outfit out of his normal shinobi attire. They either had to kill everyone here, or make sure they no one knew they were with the Sun Village. So, on the off chance this didn't turn into a slaughter, Sojiro would have made sure to cover all his bases. His go-to outfit for now was a basic ninja attire, something that a person would see out of movies or read about in stories. It even had a mask that covered all of Sojiro's features except for his eyes, but red eyes at night could be mistaken for anything. As they approached the camp, a variety of smells had started to fill the air, but what really got him was the smells of... Blood? It made sense when the camp came into sight, it wasn't the blood of people but of animals and that... Actually pissed Sojiro off more than if it had been people. How dare you drag creatures into this? The man grit his teeth for a moment but, as Genkumaru spoke, he would take a deep breath and center himself again.

"I think we keep it basic. I'll kill our target, you create a distraction in the front of camp. Then, we pincer them." Sojiro would softly nod his head at that, looking from the camp to Gen, "Kasuragi Hijime may be our target but don't let your guard don't, alright?"

As Sojiro had changed into his secondary outfit Gen put his on, it was much the same but with his large frame it was more comical on him. Who was he going to hide from? Housing beams int he movies and real life were never large enough for his frame! Chuckling slightly he refocused on the tasks at hand, angry at what laid below. This was the culmination of evil as far as he was concerned and he would be the swift hand of justice, bringing a quick death to all who enabled this man. The village and his own Nindo demanded it be done.

Nodding to his brother he would vault off backwards from the cliff, landing on a tree's trunk with chakra surging to his feet as he ran along the barren tree lien and eventually the rocky cliff faces to maneuver towards the front of the camp where all of the wagons and horses were conveniently kept together. Moving silently as no guards were present, probably all participating in the massive orgy in the center of the camp, he would unhitch the horses and set himself up against a natural V in the rocky cliffs that dotted the coast line. Taking a deep breath he centered himself before pointing his left hand forward and concentrated chakra at his finger tips, firing a gingham shot off and ripping towards the front gate itself.

The explosive chakra blast would destroy the temporary gate and cause the walls to begin falling inwards, the multitude of variably colored cloths that were stretched out to create spots of ceiling throughout the camp, to fall down on the participants. Screams and panic began to culminate and echo throughout the camp as it was like a cascading domino effect, the temporary wooden palisades crushing some of the revelers as well as releasing some of the captured animals to begin going wild in camp and injuring all within. Hopefully that was a good enough distraction and chaos for Sojiro to move in with.

Sojiro began to move at the same time that Genkumaru had, sliding from where they were watching the camp and towards the side of the cliff that touched the waterside. It was easy for the man to move down the side of the cliff with grace before touching down on the sand behind the camp's temporary defenses. The man could smell the debauchery from where he was and, for once, wished that he hadn't had a nose. How long had it been since these people had cleaned themselves? Or seen a doctor? The man would push those thoughts away, despite the overwhelming smells, and would creep along the tents that were set up while he was waiting for the start of Genkumaru's distraction; something he was sure he wouldn't miss.

BOOM! And there it was, like fireworks in the night, Genkumaru had struck the camp and Sojiro would start to move quickly in the confusion as everything started to go down. There were naked people that were starting to scream, some people heading to different camps as guards tried to scambled for their weapons. Their attention was drawn towards the front of the camp and towards Genkumaru, the 'civilians' in the matter retreating towards the water and the tents they thought were safe. Out of the rushing people, it was easy to pick out the largest tent and to watch their target run inside with nothing but his little dignity. Kasuragi Hijime really was as two-faced as they seemed to get, not that it mattered, but it definitely made things easier.

As Sojiro moved towards the larger tent, he camp towards one of the large animals that had been tied up and was getting tortured. It let out a loud scream when it saw Sojiro, the man grunting as he approached it and calling chakra to his hands, "I'm not gonna hurt you..." He spoke, moving in a more bestial manner as he came closer to the beast and would heal the wounds that it had damaged. It was some type of boar, one that had large tusks and seemed pissed. Sojiro would let the beast go, the boar decided not to attack him but instead charging into the camp for revenge! The man would chuckle seeing this, turning his attention back to the mission at hand.

The panic was palpable even all the way in his snipers post! The havoc he had caused seemed to be spreading like wild fire as naked people ran to and fro around the collapsing camp. Guards scrambling for weapons and clothing or armor as they had no idea what was going on or how to help themselves really as a good amount of the animals had become free and were savaging the men inside, rending their flesh as theirs had been. It was poetry in motion as the bestial wrath of nature had been unleashed upon the living scum in this place. It actually brought a smirk to Gen's face as he was enjoying this more then he thought he would.

Giving in to causing the wanton destruction he fired off a series of gingham shots at various locations around camp and gatherings of people causing massive explosions where ever they landed and maiming and killing those hit by his attacks. It was like he was raining down holy hell fire on the sinners before him and he was starting to like it. It was actually giving him an idea for a new technique he would want to try to make. Increasing the ratio of his shots, he made sure not to hit any of the beasts or humans that were chained up, but everyone else was fair game.

Hopefully this was a good enough distraction and cover for his brother as he continued to pelt their enemies with blasts from his signature technique. He would kill every last person here today that wasn't one of the innocents, and from the look of things that was maybe two dozen individuals here. Hopefully, Sojiro would have no qualms with the wrath that Gen was bringing down on this place, the people contained within were not worth the oxygen they breathed anyways. Hopefully, he didn't hit Sojiro with a stray blast either!

It was more than a good enough distraction! As the explosions struck into the camps and the area, taking out the pathetic guards in the process and sending things spiraling further into madness, making it more than easy for Sojiro to close the distance between him and the camp that the man had gone into. The man wouldn't really waste much time as he would sneak around the back side of the camp, preparing to use his claws to cut through the curtain but waiting a moment. Despite the yelling going around them, it was easy to hear the conversation happening in the tent. Kasuragi was inside barking at the men to gather his belongings, commanding that women help him with his clothes as he was ready to leave! The fact that this happened could only mean that one of his guards were unloyal, he wasn't going to die here because of that, he was too important! Listening to him rant like this, Sojiro was ready to end the man's life and, so he would.

With a quick motion, Sojiro's claws made short work of the tent's side and he dashed inside, taking in the situation quickly. There were four men total, three guards and the target himself, as well as four women. The women, however, seemed terrified and nothing more than civilians in the overall matter of things. There was a grunt that left his lips as one man drew his blade, Sojiro coming low against the ground and sliding on his shins underneath the blade as it came close to his face. The distance that was between him and the target was closed in that moment, his right hand coming in contact with the man's leg and creating several gashes that caused him to scream as he fell to one knee. In that moment, the two of them were at eye level and Sojiro's left hand moved, created several thin crimson lines across the man's neck. Blood would spray out over the black out and the inside of the tent, the men behind Sojiro screaming as they charged. He waited until the last moment to dodge out of the way and to end up behind the dying target, two katana sinking into his shoulders and delivering the finishing blows. The men, who had accidentally killed their boss, would look on in horror. Sojiro would slowly stand up and the girls that were inside would run out of the tent, nothing to cover their bodies.

He continued to fire off blast after blast ending the lives of those within without care or distinction as he had viewed the servants fleeing mere moments before. This massacre would be remembered as a tragic event, but hopefully a warning as well to those that understood what it was that Kasuragi stood for. This would have him feel exhilaration in an odd way that had led him to question if this was this truly being a shield of the people? Kasuragi was clearly human scum that grew and enabled more human scum, so ending him and his followers meant that all Sojiro and Gen had down was clean up the trash right? So why was it that he was beginning to feel bad for causing so much destruction...

Moving from his spot he would look towards the ground and sorrow filled his heart, the remorse for such actions having taken hold of him now. He would fire one last shot into the air before backing off, hopefully if Sojiro could see it it would let him know what exactly Gen';s intent was as he retreated back towards their starting location. He had to assume that Sojiro had already done his part, and the sheer chaos and blood shed in the camp had caused so much panic that those that were still alive were fighting each other now as well as the beasts within. They had hopefully done their job and Gen was done with this horrible act.

The three bodyguards would be staring at Sojiro with anger, fear, and uncertainty but, even with that, it didn't seem to be enough to stop them from wanting to attack him. The guards would dash forward at the same time, having seen enough movies to know that attacking the 'bad guy' one at a time was terrible. The first man came with a high strike, the second with one at the legs, while the third would try to get around the back of Sojiro; it was a pretty effective pincer attack but Sojiro wasn't really worried about getting injured by these men. The first blade would be caught by Sojiro's hand, meeting his palm and stopping it from proceeding anything further.

Sojiro's leg rose up and would come down roughly on the side of the blade, breaking it before it could damage him. And the last strike would create a gash across his back but, in that moment, Sojiro would start moment. He jumped forward, letting go of the blade in his hand and flipping over the man that had gone for a low strike. The wounds that he had taken had started to heal already thanks to preemptive methods. Sojiro would have moved his back against the tent as the men turned towards him and got ready to attack him again, though shocked to see the wounds on his body healing... And then something incredible happened. A beam of chakra pierced through the tent, Sojiro's eyes only catching glimpse of it for a second, before it struck the ground behind the three guards.

In that moment, the tent erupted in an explosion and Sojiro was seen flying backward, though it was clearly a controlled gesture. His body was tucked into a ball, with his arms covering his face. He would slide against the sand on his feet and move to run towards the cliff he had come up, back towards the meeting area.

He had tore through the trees like a rampaging beast as he hopped from tree to tree with expert timing and speed, reaching his desired destination in a relatively short amount of time. As he scrambled up the cliff face he would be breathing heavily and going through a spiral of sorts. This was a new low for him possibly? He had just decimated probably forty or more people almost indiscriminately and with abandon. How was that living up to his ideals? He had to think of a better way to do these types of missions in the future. There had to be a better way to carry out his growing role within the village and stick to his nindo there just had to be.

Laying against a rock he would try and calm himself as he basked in the sunlight. Controlling his breathing as the screams and roaring fire below echoed throughout the valley. His heart felt like it was pounding out of his chest and there was a well so deep that it could never be filled. His mind spiraling through the sheer negative reaction that no doubt awaited him in the future for what he did today. He would lay there waiting for Sojiro to meet up with him, hoping that the man had seen his flare and was retreating back here as well. He would leave his disguise on just in case someone from the camp had met it here instead, they were supposed to make sure that no one knew it was Shinobi that had done the deed, or at least that it could be blamed on rogue's or bandits.

Sojiro bounded up the cliffside with ease and moved back into the forest, moving on all fours through the greenery with ease. The man could hear the remains of their destruction in the distance, it slowly disappearing but his heart never stopped pounding. He felt the blood rush through his body as the adrenaline called for him to do more, to go back and pursue in the hunt even further! But it had been over ten years since he had given into his primal urges like that, although now seemed like a good time, he knew he had to meet back up with Genkumaru. The man would have found the man's scent and adjusted himself so that he could run to the man.

As he came up, he would slow down and move to just walking on his legs instead of running like a beast. Sojiro would come around the rock, gathering his breath and trying to calm down but in a different way that Genkumaru was. He could feel the stress from the situation on Genkumaru and he would offer him a hand, so he could get to his feet, "You did a good job out there, Gen. Don't forget that." He would try to comfort the man the best he could, moving to leave the area with him until they could find a safe place to change out of their clothing and back into their normal attire.

As Sojiro came upon him he looked up at him and sighed heavily, it was pointless to fret now, the deed had already been done. As his brother tried to console him or reassure him he simply grunted and shook his head, rising to his full height as he stood. He was brooding now, in his semi-famous way. Walking off into the distance so they could get a safer distance away and change, they would then head back off towards the village, their mission complete. On their way back to the Shūkaisho, he would procure them a few don'ts for dinner and eat in silence. Clearly he was thinking about things quite a bit.
