Below you will find a simple explanation of the ranks one can go for and what perks each offers. Be aware that to be approved at a higher rank means to miss out on perks a previous rank has to offer. For example...
Joe starts as an D-Rank shinobi and manages to reach A-Rank. All perks from previous ranks stay with Joe (from D-Rank to A-Rank). Meanwhile Tom decided to start as an A-Rank shinobi rather than work his way up. This means Tom only benefits from the starting A-Rank perks because he did not rp at any other rank (no, flashbacks do not count). Naturally Joe's A-Rank shinobi would have a bigger edge on Tom's based on Joe having actually role-played through the ranks; especially if Joe attained the elite ranks on the way to reaching A-Rank. So, yes, one could start at a high rank but it pays more to build up to an higher rank rather than just starting there.

D-Rank Shinobi
The very basic of shinobi, usually around the ages of 8+. This rank is suggested for those that are new to role-playing or those that simply want to start from the bottom. Those that start this rank are automatically given all academy jutsu (tree-climbing, kai, shunshin, ect). Also those that are promoted from D-Rank to C-Rank receive access to the Elite C-Rank. D-Rank are also given an immunity to being killed or maimed or experimented on. Kidnapping is allowed but no harm (including experiments and dna sample extraction) can come to the D-Rank in question. (If these individuals pick the Unsafe Mode of RP then they are exempt from this rule.)

C-Rank Shinobi
Shinobi often deemed the lowest level of ninja and also the ones that display the most difference in power. When a shinobi reaches C-Rank, ninja start to do their part for their village's economy – being sent on missions that the village gets paid for. Fresh out the academy and eager to make a name for themselves, those that possess this rank are able to begin missions (either your own custom created or the ones provided).

- 1000 Starting Ryo
- Limited to 1 Specialty
- Available as a Starting Rank
- Must have already completed a total of 5 D rank missions as a D-Rank to apply if your coming D-Rank.
- Starts with only 1 Element (optional)
- Only allowed 5 non-academy Jutsu/Technique.
- Limited to only C-Rank Jutsu/Technique or lower.
- Base AP is 3
Elite C-Rank Shinobi
Elite C-Rank Shinobi are considered elite shinobi who are just on the cusp of becoming a B-Rank. The only way to reach the rank of Elite C-Rank rank is by being a regular C-Rank Shinobi then ranking up first (no start off Elite C-Rank characters). It should be noted that unlike regualr C-Rank shinobi, Elite C-Rank have access to B-rank jutsu. Only those that have started as a D-Rank shinobi may attain this rank. (Some exceptions may apply.)

- Can Learn B-Rank Jutsu/Technique
- +10 Chakra Supply Increase & One Bonus AP *If started as D-Rank*
- Must start out as an D-Rank and become a C-Rank before this rank can be attained.
- Requires 48 hrs of being a regular C-Rank shinobi before one can apply for a promotion to this rank.
- Limited to 2 Specialties
- Only allowed 10 non-academy Jutsu/Technique max.
- May possess only 2 B-Rank Jutsu/Technique, the rest are limited to C-Rank.
- Base AP is at 4
B-Rank Shinobi
B-Ranked Shinobi are ninja who are qualified to guide other ninja and lead missions. Most have reached a level of maturity and ability that primarily consists of leadership skills and tactical prowess. These shinobi have proven themselves capable of such, as well as, possessing great skills as an individual. They are provided with a shinobi vest (free) and are able to lead two other (lower ranked) shinobi as a squad leader.

- Limited to 2 Specialties
- 1500 Starting Ryo.
- Requires either 72 hrs as a C-Rank or Elite C-Rank to reach this rank.
- Must complete a total of 10 missions, Five must be B-rank. (Excluding the ones previously used in other rank ups)
- Competing in the Chunin Exams (CE) can also grant this rank (CE will have its own requirements that over rule the above requirements).
- Requires two stamps of approval for start out.
- Starts with 1 Element (Optional)
- Only allowed 15 non-academy Jutsu/Technique max.
- Limited to B-Rank Jutsu/Technique or lower only.
- Base AP is 4 (5 if you started as a D-Rank)
Elite B-Rank
Though still jounin, these shinobi particularly excel at teaching and molding young shinobi into excellence. These shinobi learn jutsu at an discounted cost and are able to extend this discount to any shinobi they teach.

- Limited to Two Specialties
- 20% WC and/or Ryo cost reduction for Training or Buying jutsu (This carries over into those in your squad as well).
- +10 Chakra Supply & One Bonus AP *If started as D-Rank*
- Must have been a B-Rank for 96 hrs.
- Requires 5 B-Rank missions in order to attain this rank. (Excluding the ones previously used in other rank ups)
- If one did not start as a D-Rank Shinobi then this rank is unattainable.
- Only allowed 20 non-academy Jutsu/Technique max.
- May possess 1 A Rank Jutsu/Technique, the rest must be B-Rank or lower
- Base AP is 6
A-Rank Shinobi
The highest rank one can reach through the character application creation process. These shinobi are considered experts at what they do and lead teams of equal or lower rank. They are able to serve as military captains and have a basic understanding of genjutsu, taijutsu, and ninjutsu by default. Only those of this rank and higher are allowed to be possible candidates for leadership and are required to be 20+ in age (with some exceptions).

- 2000 Starting Ryo
- Requires 15 missions, 5 must be A rank. (Excluding the ones previously used in other rank ups)
- Start out for these applications require two stamps of approval and will be moderated much more heavily than a lower rank would. Those that do not measure up to an application worthy of this rank will be denied. It's best to avoid this rank if your new to role-playing or simply aren't gonna take the application seriously.
- Starts with 2 Elements (Optional)
- Only allowed 25 non-academy Jutsu/Technique max.
- Limited to A-Rank Jutsu/Technique or lower.
- Base AP is 6 (7 if you started as D-Rank)
Elite A-Rank Shinobi
Those shinobi of this rank began to step out into their as a walking force of nature. These individuals are comparable in skill and ability to Anbu. They are able to serve as military captains and have a basic understanding of genjutsu, taijutsu, and ninjutsu by default. Only those of this rank and higher are allowed to be possible candidates for leadership and are required to be 20+ in age. None are allowed to start off this rank.

- Organization Creation is allowed at this rank.
- Must have been an A-Rank Shinobi for 6 days in order to attain this rank.
- Requires 15 missions, 5 must be A rank. (Excluding the ones previously used in other rank ups)
- +10 Chakra Supply Increase & One Bonus AP(Must have started as D-Rank Shinobi)
- Only allowed 30 non-academy Jutsu/Technique max.
- May Possess 1 S-Rank Jutsu/Technique, the rest must be A or lower.
- AP is 8
S-Rank Shinobi
Those that have attained this rank are automatically renown throughout the land (in name at least). Their skill is extraordinary and the feats they are able to perform are the likes that can stand against an army alone. Whether they are feared or loved, these shinobi stand out as being living master's or their craft. Age limit for this rank is 25+ (Unless started at a lower rank)
Details & Perks
- Capable of starting a village.
- Requires 7 days as a A-Rank or Elite A-Rank to attain this rank.
- Must Complete 5 missions of each rank in order to attain this rank, as well.
- Admin Permission for Start Out (Or we will ask you). Pm the Front Desk to make a request. (Not a Mod)
- Only allowed 35 non-academy Jutsu/Technique max.
- Can only possess 5 S Rank Jutsu/Technique, the rest must be A or lower.
- Base AP is 8 (9 if you started at D- Rank)
Elite S-Rank Shinobi
Living legends that are able to to change the very landscape with the abilities they possess. Very few of these individuals exist in the world and those that do are often very old or extremely wise.
Details & Perks
- Must have been S-Rank Shinobi for 8 days in order to attain this rank.
- Must Complete 5 missions of each rank in order to attain this rank.
- Must have trained at least 3 PC IC and teach them 1 of your custom jutsu for each rank (E-S).
- If Started as D-Rank you gain a bonus NPC character (A-Rank Equivalent) to accompany you in threads. See the NPC rules for details.
- At this rank one is allowed 3 Specialties and Specialty Reset Token.
- +10 Chakra Supply Increase & One Bonus AP (Must have started as D-Rank Shinobi)
- Only allowed 40 non-academy Jutsu/Technique max.
- Allowed to possess no more than 10 S-Rank Jutsu/Technique, the rest must be A-Rank or lower
