It was a whirlwind of emotions for him as he listened to Sojiro speak, or was it Shin now? The man he had felt so close too, was a living lie. He had known he was adopted that wasn't the biggest shocker, but the fact that the one person who Gen thought was the closest to himself was in fact not, was disturbing and a rush of emotions he did not want. He had thought for the longest time that Sojiro was a true orphan like himself and that he was the only sibling that each of them had at this point. To hear that Kokoro or Reika? Was So- Shin's real sibling was just more salt to the selfish wound that was occurring in Gen's psyche.
Setting the tea cup down he closed his eyes briefly and smirked before walking away from the two ninja in his home. Heading out the back of the home and into the estate grounds proper. No one truly understood or was like him where they? He knew it was a good thing and that he should be happy for Soj- Shin, but he was just hurt as he realized that he would forever be alone in his sadness and exile. It was another reminder that at the end of the day he was all alone in this world and had no one to call his own. He wasn't destined for anything even remotely resembling a normal life, so why should he keep trying? This was the second large social setback he had received and he didn't know if he would be strong enough to withstand a third one.
Reaching the large Koi pond, he would sit on the stone bench overlooking the pond. His headband in his hands as he rubbed his thumb over the sun village symbol. What he wanted and needed in life clearly wasn't what he would ever have. So why should he keep pretending to be something that wouldn't matter? He knew walking away from them probably spoke volumes more then intended, but he just couldn't process losing Sojiro... Shin. Head in hands he closed his eyes and took deep, long breaths. He knew that he should try and make up with Sojiro and express happiness at what was new and probably important to him, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.
Isolation was all he was good for, or at. Exhaling with force, he rose from the bench and started walking back towards the estate, his face void of all emotion. He would play the part of the good friend even if he didn't mean it sincerely. Stopping at his room, which was once his parents, he would retrieve something that was his mothers, meaning to offer it as a peace offering for appearance sake. Walking back into the kitchen he would lay a yukata, pink like cherry blossoms and emblazoned with hummingbirds, on Reika's lap. His voice would be even and measured as he spoke, "If you are Soj... No Shin's sister then you are mine as well. You may have run of the estate like your brother. That was my mothers... please accept it as a token of acceptance.", he meant none of it at that moment, he was simply playing the part. They didn't need to know what had actually crossed his mind.
