There usually wasn't much commotion that happened in the Sun Village, at least not something that could get the attention of Sojiro Sakura. The man spent a lot of time inside the house, furthering his personal studies and expanding his knowledge. But, one night while he was sitting at the table and talking with his father over dinner, it had come up that supposedly a few children had gone missing over the last few weeks. Usually, Sojiro wouldn't have paid it much thought but his father seemed genuinely concerned about it, so the man decided that he would go and see if he could figure something out about these children. The bestial man woke up the next morning with a bit of determination, sliding on a pair of his black pants with ease and his Flak Jacket to follow. Not knowing what he could end up finding in town, he decided to slide his black gauntlet onto his left arm and equip both his pouch and windmill shuriken. Making sure all of his items were in the proper places, the man would grab his bandana and tie it across his forehead, tying back his black hair in the process.
Sojiro had heard that most of the children had gone missing in the slums, which didn't quite surprise him if there was anywhere in the village something dark like this could happen, it would be here. As he was starting to patrol into the darker parts of the village, he felt a bit more eyes on him, as though he wasn't welcomed in this part of town. His crimson red hues scanned the area, staying alert even as he kept his casually slouched stance. Not a lot of people looked at him when he was looking their way, not something that completely surprised him, but eventually there was something that caught his eye. A flyer that had been stapled onto one of the many buildings that were around town, this one being a small store for people to buy food at. The man would walk forward and squint at the paper closely.
It had a picture of a boy who looked to be no older than ten years old, with shaggy blonde hair and tanned skin. He looked like a happy kid but underneath was the message that the parents have been looking for him for nearly a week. With a disapproving grunt, Sojiro would take the piece of paper and head towards the address that was at the bottom, looking for the family of who the kid belonged to. Once he got there, what followed was a lengthy conversation with the parents of the child. As far as they knew, things were normal and it was just another day, except that their son had never come home from school. No matter how many different ways he asked the questions, the parents' story stayed straight and they only got more upset about their child being out there. So, it definitely hadn't been the parents that had killed their kid or sold him. So, instead, the man would ask for some of their child's clothing. Of course, this had gotten him a lot of weird looks until he explained about himself and his heightened sense of smell.
As he left the house, he held a teddy bear in his right hand and would have already gotten the boy's scent from it. With that, Sojiro Sakura would head even further into the slums. He made sure to walk down each street slowly, making sure to keep track of where the home was, so that he didn't end up running back there by accident. Of course, as hours went on, there was nothing that he could find. Soon the sun was gone and the moon was high above, the idea that Sojiro hadn't been able to find anything on the child causing him to slowly get angry. But, just as he was beginning to give up, he caught something... It was old and faint but he got it!
The man would run forward as fast as he could, eventually coming to a pair of buildings and a small alleyway. He would push between the buildings sideways and eventually come to a small opening. In the opening, there was only piles of garbage and Sojiro furrowed his brows. He knew there wasn't a dead body here, there wasn't the foul smell in the air so.. What was it? He began to dig through the trash and, eventually, he would find a single black sandal. He felt a bit sick finding only the shoe of the child but... That was all he had. After all of that. He cursed out loud and left out the way he came, deciding to head back home. He'd keep today to himself, he had to. There was no reason to tell hurting parents about a shoe... After all, it was just a damned shoe.
