It had been a few days since Sojiro had moved out of his adoptive father's house and into his own home... Well, sort of. Sojiro had moved in with Genkumaru and Kannagi, deciding that the large property was like having his own home and didn't mind the company of the other two. There were definitely people that could be worse to live with. Of course, moving to the new neighborhood hadn't really taken his mind off of the problem that had been going on in the slums of the village. If anything, being further away from the problem made Sojiro more tempted to try and figure out what was going on. The man had tried his best to ask for help from a few people that he thought could keep their mouths shut. He had originally started off with Kenji and Hikari, where the three of them had gone to a previous place that Sojiro had looked at and found something terrible. They had found an earthen tunnel that was covered up, leading into a room covered in filth. Whatever children had been kept there were long gone and they were too late to save them, the idea was something that pissed him off but it didn't stop there.
A few weeks after that, Sojiro had been out looking for missions when the man had run into Kannagi, who was helping a little boy find a missing girl. The boy had just wanted to eat, while still being worried for his friend, but it the kid proved to be a solid lead. He told them that he heard the girl crying in a shed behind an old ramen shop, so they had gone there, only to find a similar sight to what Sojiro had seen before. Filth and makeshift beds, Sojiro leaving Kannagi there with the piece of information to not trust the village. No matter how he thought about it, he knew that the village had to be involved with this somehow. His latest attempt to ask for help had been Ryojin, of the Moon Village, thinking that maybe an outside voice could help him figure things out. But it hadn't yielded any results that were helpful. He had hit a wall, as he walked around the slums and spotted another picture of a missing child. He hadn't seen this one before and the kid had been reported missing by his parents just the day before. What the hell was happening? Where were they going?
There were too many questions and not enough answers, it was pissing him off but there wasn't anything that he could do to ease that feeling. Well, there was something that he could do actually. Sojiro Sakura would spend a few more hours walking around the slums of the Sun Village, to try and see if he could pick up on any type of scents. Out of everything that the families had given him, or that he had found, none of the scents led anywhere but dead ends. Were the children dead? If they were, what the hell was killing them? It could be a person but after the Tomb, it was honestly hard for him to dismiss the idea that it could just be something else... Something much darker than a person. He shook his head and dismissed that thought, the idea that some type of ghost or even demon could be doing this was insane. Clearly it was people, demons and ghosts wouldn't need to keep the children hidden somewhere else. Right?
Sojiro shook his head and let out a soft breath, deciding to head home for the day. These thoughts were starting to get to him and he needed to sleep.
