The merchant was rather a skittish type. His hands were always rubbing, like a hamster that was worried someone was going to take his sunflower seeds. Shizuka didn't blame him, he had a rather expensive cargo with him. A horse-drawn caravan filled to the brim with chakra infused wood. These were special kinds of materials. Fed chakra from the moment they were planted, all through their sapling years and taken care of till they were tall and thick enough to be chopped down. The beauty of this kind of wood was, that they responded well to Chakra. The grains in the wood optimal for the flow of energy. Shinobi made various weapons and tools from it. Some expert carpenters made entire buildings out of these precious woods. It made it easier for the Shinobi to channel their unique chakra through, allowing for a more refined and untainted shape.

The merchant had two guards of his own. One sat in the back of the caravan while the other road on the caravan itself. The merchant was seated next to the driver his eyes always darting back and forth. Even the shadow of a bird high up in the air would startle him. Shizuka was in the front, leading the way back to the village of the sun. Kokoro would be right beside her on the Journey. Imino's concern for the merchant's good wasn't as important as her concern for the younger Shinobi. Losing a teammate was heavy on a shinobi but Imino felt like she was the squad leader for this mission. Losing a subordinate of sorts would sit ill with her.

Several hours would pass as they were well away from both borders of the Sun and Moon village. These were the times they were often attacked. Away from the patrols of both villages and outposts. The lawless bandits reigned as their own judicial force, taxing merchants for using their roads. Of course, bandits weren't the only danger. Wild animals and beasts corrupted by the old wars roamed these lands too. Strange, how the misfortune of the world employed shinobi like her. Shizuka's ears would wiggle a bit and casually she would ask her young friend.

"So, Sakura-chan, how do you fight?"

Kokoro found the overly worried merchant oddly amusing as she and Shizuka took on escort duty, leaving the safety net of the Moon Village. She was surprised to see the truckload of chakra-induced wood that the little man was trying to guard with his life. She had actually expected something...more extravagant or lavish. But she guessed that the wood had its purpose since two shinobi and two guards were escorting the cargo and the man. She was rather interested in what the wood was used for, having not seen anything quite like it since she became a shinobi.

Hours would pass as they walked silently down the road and slowly into unknown territory, at least for the Inukura. She had never traveled before, her first time traveling with Shizuka to the Moon Village to deliver the package. Now they were going on another one and this time there could be bandits or wild animals along the way. The idea of bloodshed excited her, her cannibal instincts getting the best of her. She would turn her attention back to Shizuka, just in time to catch her question. Many people have asked her this before and each time she would have to think before she spoke. "My clan uses Taijutsu mostly and I like to play with pointy things." she smiled at her. "What about you, Imino-san?"

If time or her own emotions would have permitted, sadness would be it. The nonchalance of it all, referring to a bladed weapon as a pointy thing. Shizuka wasn't sure if was to be treated as normal for a shinobi or if it was just simply the child in Kokoro to speak like it. However, Imino couldn't care less, she saw the zeal and lust in Kokoro's facial expression. Something she had seen before, that hungry smirk. Was she always like that? When she was a child that is. Shizuka felt she was more serious, aware of the irreversible damage a blade could do. They had been taught from a very young age, not to play with weapons. Perhaps it was a new kind of resilience, still able to have a childhood like an aspect and joke about stuff. Afterall, Kokoro was a Shinobi too, it would be rude of Shizuka to assume she was nothing but a child.

She cut her train of thought short as she spoke once more. "Up ahead, three men are hiding behind that hill." Her actions never changed, she simply kept walking as if all was well. Her voice was just loud enough for the party to hear. "Gentlemen please focus on your employer and his goods. Kokoro, I will provide support, feel free to do as you wish, just keep one alive." They would be now 5 meters away and three men popped out with crude weapons. Two had spears and one hand an old katana. They were ragtag bandits.

The Inukura would smell them before she would see the men hiding behind the hill. Her aquatic eyes narrowed as she focused on the scent, all the while glancing over at Shizuka. Had Kokoro said something wrong? She was beginning to worry when she thought she saw the woman's face lace with a certain...sadness it seemed. Living on the streets had taught the girl to survive the hard way, being without parents had taught her the importance of survival through strength. And of course, being bullied in the academy taught her to win respect by fights. Even though she didn't think she was in the wrong to think these things, the look on Shizuka's face made her uneasy. Was it wrong of her to give in to her animalistic nature? Did Shizuka see her any differently because of it?

Pushing the thoughts momentarily out of her mind, Kokoro focused her attention on the hiding men. She heard her partner give orders to the guards and nodded her head in agreement to keeping one of the men alive. By then they were within five meters of the men, and she would call to them, her words cold and cutting. "So we going to keep playing hise and seek or what?" Kokoro wouldn't wait for an answer though as she dashed forward, her hand traveling to her weapon pouch. She would throw three shuriken in the direction of the hill, pressuring the men to come out fron hiding to face her. She wasn't there to play games nor did she have time to play with them. One of the men would charge forward towards her while two men would go for Shizuka, perhaps noticing the other woman being stronger and more worthy as opponents. The two men each carried a standard sized katana while the man coming at Kokoro was a double sword wielder.

OOC: Hey don't worry about editing it but in my post, they already popped out and they had different weapons. We will go with your scenario. Just in future, I noticed people will manipulate these kinds of things to kill or punish you xD. Also if you apologize I'm going to throw you into a pool of Soul's bold hairdos.

'Amateurs.' Scoffed the old man. If he was going to attack, he would have the strongest person hold Shizuka off while the numbers would trump over the weaker one. Then when they quickly dispatched her, the three of them could have attacked Shizuka.

'That is a load of Monkey dung in a pond!' There was no way to actually gauge one's strength. A female voice. Kokoro could have been the stronger one and even then, Shizuka could quickly dispatch their strongest ally then it would be a 2 on 2!

Shizuka's red eyes flitted from left and right. They ran at her blades drawn, switching position like two serpents coiling towards her. At the very least, the two of them had experience working together, switching positions to throw the opponent off guard. Shizuka drew her Katana, blade in her dominant and the sheathe in her left. She didn't wait for them, moving right to meet them head-on.

'You can read your opponent's strength if you're good enough.' It was the little details that a warrior's intuition picked up on. The way they walked, held their weapon, or how steady their gaze was.

Shizuka switch targets at the last minute, her blade swinging to the man on the left. He was in the middle of switching sides himself. He chose to stumble, rolling under Shizuka's blade. His partner would swing at the exposed rear of the Kunoichi, Shizuka ducked, hearing the blade swing above her head.

'An even better warrior would hide those things. Be humble! Why would you show your hand to your opponents?!?' These rentals were really noisy sometimes. Two very different spirits clashes with equally valid and flawed points. Shizuka blocked a two-pronged attack with her sheathe and sword. She would shoulder charge the man on the left, before swinging her sword to keep the second at bay. Her eyes quickly flitted over to Kokoro to see how she was doing.

The girl glanced over at Shizuka, knowing that she could take care of the two so that Kokoro could concentrate on the one man that was coming at her with his double swords. She smirked at her own opponent who was charging at her with his double sword. It was odd how people thought they immediately gained an advantage because they carried more weapons. The Inukura would wait for the man to come towards her, with only one of his sword unsheathed. Her eyes watched his movements closely and she would see that her shuriken had missed him completely. Perhaps she needed some more precision practice, so it seemed. Kokoro could see him come at her with his sword, aiming a horizontal slash to her torso. She would unsheathe her own sword and clash their blades, her eyes never leaving the hilt of his second weapon.

The deadlock wouldn't last long as she pushed her weight against her own blade, in turn pushing him back. She would concentrate her chakra to her fingers and push out a bolt of lightning at the same time, a jutsu that she had learned recently. It was just her luck that she didn't need handseals to use this technique and would aim the lightning at his right shoulder. It wasn't a life threatening attack obviously, but it was one that could potentially stall his movements. As she watched it connect, she would gain the opening she was looking for to release herself from the deadlock, sliding the metal of her blade across his intending to grab the hilt of his sword.

'Do you honestly have time to be look-'
'ENOUGH!' Shizuka's voice would ring internally but a sinister undertone was present. Both her spirits quickly fell silent, lying dormant till their host and master told them otherwise. Was she angry with her spirits or the two before her? Thieving and lying their way through life. No one could quite tell and Shizuka didn't let it show.

A man tried to stab her and she reacted smoothly. She switched the grip on her blade, letting the edge now point behind her. She lowered her body, avoiding a strike to her head from behind. In turn, she stabbed him in the stomach, feeling his soft gut give to the steel. The first man, Shizuka's sheathe fitted perfectly on his stabbing sword. His weapon was not defanged, one that Shizuka twisted and snatched away from him. Shizuka drew the man's blade from her scabbard, leaving him without a weapon.

    "Who sent you?"
    "Wh-what?"

Shizuka turned, quickly finishing off the man who now groped at her feet. A thrust to his heart and his suffering ended with the last few gurgles and blood. She turned back around, her face angered. "WHO?"
"N-No one, we just rob this road a lot."

Shizuka's breathing was elevated, her pupils dilated. When she found herself like such she steadied her breathing. She twitched her head to the side, telling the man to scram. He tucked his tail and ran away. She looked at Kokoro still in battle. When Kokoro was done the party would move on.

Kokoro's blue eyes would glance over at Shizuka. It seemed that she was doing just fine. The girl would turn her attention back to the bandit who had regained his momentum, twisting his blade just in time so that she wouldn't be able to grab it. He slashed at her, to which she countered and for a good few minutes it would remain that way. He had unleashed second blade on her in the process, and she found that it was quite difficult to actually block two blades with just one. But she had her agility and her height to her advantage, she supposed. The girl smirked as she connected a slash to his left shoulder, feeling her blade to flesh. It excited her tremendously as she sought and craved for more.

She would notice that one of the other bandits was killed at this point, and one ran for his life as Shizuka let him go. Kokoro would finish off the battle quickly. She sent another lightning bolt to his head, stalling him as she pushed the hilt of one of his katana out of his hand. She would cleanly slice his torso horizontally, a swift motion that she had learned from years of training in swordsmanship. As he fell to the ground, a surprised look on his face, she would sit on him, driving her sword in his back straight down. "Remember my name...Inukura,,," her voice was a low whisper as she slid the sword out of his back, hearing him give a weak scream. She would always give her name to every enemy she killed, a sign of respect perhaps, or just boasting rights. But this was the first time she would give out her real name, a little taken aback that she had actually done so.

The two kunoichi would continue down the road, heading to the Sun Village.
