Hunt the Executioner (Shinigai)

Your finger slides through the course stone opening in the door until you feel the hole stop. The tip of your finger gently brushes the backside of the stone door as you patiently wait for what is to come. An eerie silence befalls the area, your breath quickens, a bead of sweat drops from your forehead, and finally, something happens. The eyes of the skull begin to glow a deep red, as if by magic. The door shakes for a brief second as a demonic voice billows forth from the door.

"The Demon has found you worthy"

Then in an instant, without warning, a cold piece of steel slides across the opening of the hole, the very hole your finger is currently in. It happens so fast, you barely have time to react before the pain sets in, warm red blood pooling around the opening of the hole. The steel slides back, releasing your finger, only to reveal that it is no longer there. Blood begins to pour from the cleanly cut wound as the stone door shakes even more violently this time, sliding sideways into the earth revealing a dark hole boring its way into the earth.

A warm, dry and musty smell meets your nose as you slowly make your way into the tunnel. Its dark, all around you a stone corridor descends deeper and deeper into the earth, but you push forward. After a few moments the tunnel levels out, only to open up into a small stone room. It is incredibly dark, however a few beams of light can be seen from the ceiling, tiny cracks in the stone and ground allow for slivers of sun light to enter, giving you just enough light to help you see. The room is made of stone for the most part, and is a perfect square, twenty meters by twenty meters. You look around the room taking notice of the fact that it seems to be barren. Until your eyes see it, and stop.

Directly across the room from where you entered, against the wall is a massive stone statue. It depicts an evil looking man, his face covered and his eyes staring intently at you. In his hands, a stone depiction of the very blade you came here to find, The Executioner blade. On either side of this statue is a door, one on the right side and one on the left, shrouded in darkness. As you take in the awe of the statue, you notice a stone plaque at its base, with words etched into it. You close in on the statue to get a closer look, seeing that these words appear to be scratched into the stone.

"Here, the final resting place of a man with no name. Feared through out history, only to meet his demise by an emotion no one knew he possessed. Thousands of men slaughtered, cities cleaved, and nations shaken, only to be conquered by love. This is not the story of the Executioner, but the story of the woman who finally tamed him. For this tomb belongs to three souls, The Executioner, his wife, Vivian Stern, and the sword that coated this land in blood. Those who stumble upon this grave, take this as your warning, turn back, leave this cursed place alone. For the man who holds the blade is not the demon you must fear."

The words linger on your mind, unsure of what to make of what you just read. You take a moment to gather yourself, you now have one of three choices to make. Do you take head of the stones warning, turn back and leave the tomb? Or do you venture deeper, taking either the left or right tunnel, both that without a doubt take you on a surprising and unexpected journey.

Jayy had finally made it deep into the ancient rune. The Darkness of the runes would not scare the man as he would scan his area. Seeing the large statue and two doors. "Looks like i won't find my friends in this dump... but i might find a beautiful sword." He said as he smiled. Stepping closer to the statue he would read the words etched into it. "I'd love to be like this man.. Blood coated and feared.." Shinigai said as he read the rest. Looking at both of the doors he would ponder for a few moments which direction he would go. Jayy would look down at his right hand that had still be bleeding slowly but he had been lucky enough to be of the kaguya clan so the missing finger bone would slowly start to reform. "Right it is.." He would say to himself as he began down this dark hallway. His eyes now set on this large blade.

[Right Door]

You turn to the right, eyeing the right tunnel, that is the path you choose to take. As you make your way down the right tunnel, it gets harder and harder to see, as the light from the previous room slowly starts to fade away. Eventually you are engulfed in pure darkness, unable to see a single thing around you. You place your good hand against the tunnel wall, using it to guide you along, until the wall is no longer there.

Even though you can not see, you can feel the room open up, the air circulating around you. It is warm, dank and dry, however you can feel a light breeze coming from the other side of this darkened room, signaling an exit of some kind. You stand at the end of this tunnel, staring blankly into a pitch black room. You do not know its size, or what lies beyond, only that to venture further you must cross this room.

Jayy would continue through the tunnels as he would find nothing as he could not see in front of him. Shinigai would be a bit worried as he cold feel how cold and wet the next cave was. He would think him to himself 'what ways could he make sure this wasn't a trap.' Suddenly he figured it out. without handsigns he would begin the process of using his Ten finger bullet technique but instead of shooting them off he would let them fall into his hand. Bending down he would roll the first five on the floor of the cave about 10 meters and listen to the outcome of the bullets.

As you create ten tiny bone pellets from your hand, you kneel down in the darkness, taking five of these bullets and rolling them across the stone floor. They roll about five meters, clanking across the stone, until they no longer do so. About five meters into the room, the five bones stop clanking as they encounter a hole in the ground. After a couple of seconds of falling, the room echos with the sound of the bone pellets hitting the bottom of a giant pit. You quickly realize that in the middle of this dark room lies a giant hole.

Shinigai would become a bit worried as after a few seconds he could not hear the pellets until they would hit the ground again. A hole? Shinigai would begin to turn around he had no business in that room and would try the next hallway. "What is this place. Maybe i went down the wrong side? Lets try the other one." Shinigai would continue back to the main room as he would see the statue once more. He looked over is and would head back into the next tunnel. Getting lost? The demon would say as he watched the young boy's actions. Hoping that this Hallway would not be as dark as the last one.

[Left Door]

You turn to the left, eyeing the left tunnel, that is the path you choose to take. As you make your way down the left tunnel, it gets harder and harder to see, as the light from the previous room slowly starts to fade away. Eventually you are engulfed in pure darkness, unable to see a single thing around you. You place your good hand against the tunnel wall, using it to guide you along, until the wall is no longer there.

Shinigai had seemed to of gotten into the same predicament as before as his vision was no longer there but he could still feel. "Guess there's only one thing to do." He would say to himself as he would create a bone that was as long as his arm and leg put together. Stretching about 1 meter long. He would use this as his guide to feel the ground in front of him as he would tap the ground a meter in front of him before walking that meter. Had he not felt anything with it he would not continue and would drop the bone cane down.

You create a staff made out of bone from your body, and begin to tap it against the ground, using it as a walking stick to guide you through the darkness. You slowly push forward five meters, using the clanking sounds of the bone against stone to guide your way. Suddenly the sound changes, as the bone no longer taps against stone, but instead sounds like it has tapped against a metal surface. You instantly stop, refusing to make another move as you decide what to do next.

Shinigai would continue over the metal surface still using his clanging method to hear the area as he walks. Still fearing the outcome he would walk in a sideways mannor as a way to keep one side of his body closer to the stone path. Shinigai knew that he had to get past one of these rooms. His mind was set and he would not fear the outcome and would embrace it. The clinging would scare him but he would push forward.

The bone pole would tap on the metal surface of the floor, giving off a metallic ringing sound that echoed throughout the room. Shinigai would continue to walk forward, attempting to cross the metal surface. As the man stepped onto the metal surface, it would slightly depress, the weight of the foot steps causing the plate to sink into the ground slightly. A quiet hissing noise could then be heard coming from all sides of the room. The darkness would hide the fact that a deep red mist had now poured into the room. It only took seconds for the mist to take effect, as the mans vision would begin to blur, his consciousness fading. After only seconds of being in contact with the mist, the man would fall unconscious, flopping to the floor asleep.

Shinigai would smell the gas and pass out on the ground. His mind going into a daze as he would fall asleep. He had no idea what was going on as his head would hit the ground as the gas would feel his body in seconds. In is his dreams he would dream of his mother and father and their life together. He could not think of anything else that would make him happy. Suddenly his friends would also appear in the dream as he would see keiji, karite and ami.
