Hunt the Executioner

Ami stifled a yawn as the two of them approached the Barrens. She looked around at the surroundings, trying to take in what little there was around them. She wasn't sure what they were supposed to be looking for, nor what they should be doing at this point. The Hyuuga remembered reading about this place in the books at the academy, about how many treasure hunters were known to come here to look for items from the ancient past. She had been intrigued by this place back then, but now that they were here, she wasn't so sure about it.

The girl pondered at what Karite asked and was at a loss. She had never looked for anything, much less a tomb. She didn't even know what kind of clues would give them ideas of where the tomb was. But she guessed that since it was part of the mission, they needed to at least do something. "Let's just look around. I've got no idea actually..." she admitted truthfully. The young Hyuuga would walk forward and look around the place. "Where should we start...?" She thought if they didn't find the tomb, they should at least find some clues.

Ami would nod her head and begin searching for some signs of something that once existed. She didn't have such high hopes of finding the actual tomb, as she guessed this was going to be a feat which would take both time and energy. The Hyuuga looked around, cautious of every step as she went. There seemed to be nothing of interest here at first glance, though she wasn't sure at this point what would be considered of interest or not. She hoped that Karite would be able to shed some light on the matter seeing as she was possibly a more worldly traveler than Ami. Ami was like a hermit, and this was the first time she would set foot outside her own village.

The two kunoichi continued on, moving cautiously, gluing their eyes to the ground to see if they would find anything of value. She could tell that at some point in history this place had breathed with human existence, as she saw some ruins of old buildings which she guessed had once been inhabited by some people. It peaked her interest to know the life that people had led here before it became the ruins. She imagined people living quite differently from how they lived now, with less fortunes and easier to obtain dreams. History fascinated her...and she was going to treat this as a history lesson too.

"I wonder how it was like to live here once upon a time..."

Ami kept walking, studying the ruins carefully. It was interesting to see remnants of things with one's own eyes instead of reading about them from a textbook. It was part of the reason why she hated studying or reading. She was more of a hand-on type of person, understanding the importance of incorporating the five senses into experiences. She had read a little about this place in the academy, had heard of rumors of it being quite a wealthy city at one point. That would explain the numerous cases of people trying to hunt for treasure here.

"Do you really think there's such things as treasure?"

She turned to ask Karite. Ami didn't believe in treasure and when she was young she thought greed had blinded the human mind that everyone was trying to find easy ways to be rich. And by that she also was not very sympathetic to those who were either killed or met with ill-fate in the process. She simply didn't understand this obsession of trying to dig out old things for the benefif of oneself. She had only come on this mission because of her thirst of knowledge, wanting an excuse to see with her own eyes what she read as a child

"Wait, what is that?" Ami heard Karite exclaim suddenly.

The girl noticed the red substance or object on the ground as well. She couldn't see very well at the distance they were. She wondered what it was, as they both moved cautiously towards it. Ami was sure it wasn't anything dangerous but she was still alert in case she wss proven wrong. She was enjoying this expedition the longer it lasted, thinking whether they could find anything as a token for the mission.

Ami crouched down to look at the red substance that was definitely dried and caked on the ground. She studied it for a moment, recognizing it to be blood as well. The young Hyuuga studied the blood pool and confirmed in her head that what Kaite said was true. It didn't seem like blood from an animal, the amount of blood too much from any animal. But then what could it be? She pondered the possibilities in her mind as she searched for a blood trail.

"Oh I think I see something over there!" The young girl would exclaim with excitement as she noticed a pattern of red spots on the ground, kind of brown now because of age. It went in a sort of S pattern along the path, turning corners. Ami wasn't sure where this would lead them but was pretty sure that there was something more to it if they simply followed the path. She would run after it, hollering behind her. "Come on, Karite! I think we're on to something!" It was exciting to finally find something finally.
