Appearance: Mari stands at 5'9", a considerably tall height for a woman, albeit is on the smaller side weight and physique wise, weighing only 126 lbs. She is well known for being "tall and dark", usually seen wearing dark colors. Her face is usually drawn into a mix between stern and indifference. For clothing while she prefers to wear formal and traditional kimonos, wearing such in the scorching heat of Nikkougakure would be suicide, and so she wears the Egyptian motifs common in the village. It's a bit revealing, and so she would usually walk around with the cloak closed up.

Personality: At a first glance, Mari is known to be a mix between business serious and cool indifference, the embodiment of a diplomat. Everything she says and does is driven by her end goal however: manipulation. Try as she may to differ herself from her mother, her manipulative habit is something she can't shake.
As manipulative as she can be, she is not without her good attributes however. Her mother may have made her this way, but beneath the surface, she is a soul full of love and forgiveness, her cold demeanor towards others her own way of keeping others at a distance so that she wouldn't use them. Too bad, she's so good at what she does that before she knew it she was using her cold demeanor to draw people in all the same.
On a personal level, Mari is known to be against violence and doesn't really want to be a kunoichi, rather simply using it towards her end goal of taking down her mother. She is deeply religious, following the teachings of Shinigani, however she remains open minded to other religions, and is in fact looking for new fate in either possibly the sun or moon gods. She is old fashion, taking a strong liking for home making (cooking, cleaning), and is against matriarch, believing men ought to lead. As a kunoichi, is intelligent when it comes to her own interest (fuinjutsu, genjutsu), but is generally dumb to other things (ie. she scores the lowest in all other subjects at the academy). She is however a master strategist and tactician, and makes up for skill with leadership.

History:
Mari has been born into a legacy. Five generation of powerful women had carried the name "Mari Uzumaki". Mari would be born to Mari Uzumaki, the fifth of her name, and an Uchiha father who she had never met, nor did her mother spoke off. Her mother, the leader of the Mero Metro settlement in the Cindervine Jungle.
Her mother had dozens of children scattered across the globe, however Mari, and her sister, Neko, the only ones she actually bothered keeping around. For years, both sisters, naive to the type of person her mother really was, believed everything she said blindly, Mari was especially close to her, to the point that she didn't stop breastfeeding till her teens. Her mother would use their naivety to indoctrinate them.
She had been thirteen when she had an epiphany and realized who her mother truly was. Soon after, she would begin to rebel against her mother, intent on proving that she was not only different from her, but better than her. She would request to be made an ambassador for the village, and would travel from the Debon Plains to The Barrens and more sealing affiliations for Merogakure and other minor villages, all the while building her own allies.
A year back she has been assigned with a mission in the Kellen Plain. It was her most dangerous mission yet, and would be her most traumatize. "Lobos" was an infamous criminal, but an influential figure. Mari had been sent to form an allegiance with the leader of the largest town in the land, but after meeting Lobos, she had another plan. She had helped him form a rebellion, however her only thanks was her being gangraped by him and his men.
Returning to her town, not long after, while traumatized by the incident, she didn't let it deter her from her end goal. She didn't tell anyone, and has in fact forgiven Lobos and his men, supporting them financially herself. She was soon given her biggest diplomatic mission yet, for which she has to choose either the Sun or Moon villages. She isnt a fan of neither the Sun nor Moon, but being in the Sun was a good opportunity to locate her father, and so she chose there.
