When Sojiro had first received the mission summons to travel to the Debon Plains so that he could hunt one of the rare creatures known as a Vorrapede, the man had been excited deep down in his stomach. A lot of his missions had constantly revolved around him going out and murdering people, which wasn't a problem on itself but people were easy prey. While a lot of hunting people usually came down to some type of a brawl, the target using everything they have to try and survive, it usually only ended up that way because there weren't any other ways for things to go. Even an assassination only had so many paths that it could go before it was finally over, before a person would be given a mission and they find it impossible to think of a creative way to handle it. People had patterns, people weren't as complicated as they thought when it came to a surface level, and they were easy to figure out. Well, so long as it didn't come to emotions, they were pretty easy to figure out. So, this had left Sojiro craving an actual hunt with a serious beast of the forest, a request that he seemed to be have answered when he had gotten his new mission. It had been weird that the village of Debon had assigned this one but, the job paid and was technically given to him by the village of Nikkousato, so it wasn't like he could just ignore this. Hell, even if had something important to do, chances were that he would take this mission over than regardless. He wasn't going to let the chance to hunt such a powerful and strong monster to just slip through his fingers.
Of course, currently, Sojiro was starting to regret that he didn't bring someone along with him. It wasn't that he was currently getting his ass handed to him but he was currently blinded, almost literally, because of his decisions. When the giant Vorrapede had come shooting out of the ground like a bat had finally made its way out of hell, Sojiro didn't have anything to avoid besides going directly upward. This, though, seemed to be a usual tactic of the Vorrapede because it had been waiting for him to fall into its maw. The beast was smart enough to know that there would be a climax of Sojiro's jump, which would be reached much sooner than its own and would bring the shinobi down towards its maw. The dozen or so of tentacles had whipped through the air with desperate attempts to try and rip the man into its maw or, so that it could position the man in between its mandibles and sever him completely in two! To the surprise of the creature, when a tentacle had finally gotten within striking range of Sojiro, it didn't easily wrap around him and instead would find itself in a small amount of pain. Using the tentacle as a makeshift rein, when the giant Vorrapede would start to plummet back down towards the earth and attempt to leave Sojiro behind, he wouldn't let it go! That was where the man was at currently, having been drug into the ground and underneath into a series of tunnels.
As he was brought into the underground tunnels, Sojiro would do his best to take a deep breath just before they would go underneath before he would be engulfed by the ground. At first, it wasn't too terrible, the earth in the immediate area had been loosened by the giant creature coming out of the ground and would make it easier for Sojiro to transition into the ground. His eyes were shut tightly, he knew that if he even tried to crack his eyes for a moment that he may lose his eye or even his life! There was no telling when the ground would suddenly become hard again, or a rock could strike against him, and he wasn't going to risk his life just trying to see. As it stood, being dragged through the ground, the tentacle that he held would tense and untense while in his grasp but it was clear that he was the person who was winning that match. His arms, legs, and even face would begin to sting as the ground was getting harder and it seemed like they were getting even deeper into the surface. Sojiro clearly couldn't see how serious any of the wounds were but he knew that his limbs were becoming covered in a series of unforgiving cuts and bruises. For a moment, his mind wandered back to the clinic and how he was going to miss all of the proper tools and equipment once this mission was over. The dirt and wounds would need to be disinfected, which meant that he was going to need to clean himself up with the travel version of everything. That was a thought he wished he could groan at without getting a mouthful of dirt.
Sojiro knew that he wasn't going to be able to keep holding his breath like this, so he needed to get the creature to get out somehow... With man would take his left hand, the free one, before summoning chakra to his hand. The man's nails would start to grow by several feet until they were their own weapons, Sojiro while on the back of the Vorrapede moving to lay flat on his stomach instead of trying to stand. He probably should have done that from the beginning but hindsight is 20/20. With his new weaponized left hand, he would try and shove his claws through the thick hide of the beast and had absolutely no luck. It was starting to piss Sojiro off to a certain degree, making him want to scream at the top of his lungs but, again, that would just end up with a mouthful of dirt. Then the man would do something that was dumb, but it was the only idea that he had.
He would position his hand so that his nails were facing down against the creature's thick hide before he would raise his chest, and then drop his body full force onto his own arm. There was a painful snap as he broke his own wrist in the process but a warm feeling as ooze came out the creature, meaning that his claws had gotten through! The monster would have let out noise that shook the ground, Sojiro would use the tentacle in his hand to keep pulling himself upwards and slowly force his claws upwards to try and make the wound even bigger, a feature that was much easier now that he had pierced the caraprice of the monster. But, as he would drag the wound upwards to do more damage to the beast, the creature would have suddenly changed its angle and the two of them would have finally found themselves going straight up like before!
Ah, fresh air had never felt this good! Except that one time after the Tomb... But that was besides the fact. Sojiro would spit dirt to the side and shake his head with enough vigor to give himself a small headache but it would clear the dirt from his eyes so that he could see. As he opened his eyes, he found himself in a similar position than when he was able to see last. He would fly off the back of the Vorrapede as he took off into the air and lost the momentum, causing Sojiro to go flying around and then come back around full force towards the beast's maw! Sojiro decided to not fight the momentum and instead went with it, letting go of the tentacle as he fell into the mouth of the beast. As he did, the man would have started spinning as fast as he could while summoning chakra into his right hand and left foot... As he was swallowed by the beast, as he started to slow down in his spinning motion, he would throw out both chakra enhanced limbs with great vigor.
In his hand was released a Cherry Blossom Impact while his heel released a Bestial Foot of Pain, the suddenly pressure on both sides of the creature's neck causing it to swell suddenly before there was the sound of 'armor' breaking with guts becoming sprayed in the area. The beast would be killed and Sojiro would move to fall in a crouch, covered in guts himself and it stinging his wounds, "Fucking bug, told you that I'd win." He would say before heading to Debon Village, so he could patch himself up and report the mission had been completed.
