Tero slipped The armored Chest piece over Alana’s torso, tightening its straps firmly along her arms and back, followed by several other pieces from her usual gear. As she stood there watching herself in the mirror she thought back to the first time she had worn her battle armor, her eight year old self hardy able to stand up straight under the weight of the metal plated gear. She had come a long way, the years that followed saw her fitted in a number of different plate shades, for a myriad of purposes. As Tero, her most trust friend and right hand man, fastened the last lose strap on the armor against the Nikkoukage’s body, Alana thought back on when she had first received this particular special gear she now wore religiously.
The ceremonial day marking her ascension as Nikkoukage, the legendary Sun village blacksmith smelting every piece of the armor from a fallen meteorite, said to have mystical properties. The obsidian plates had become a part of her identity, her armor something she rarely was seen without. She watched herself closely in the mirror, her golden hair hiding the stress riddled features across her face. She was no longer the same joyfully optimistic, full of energy, young girl that ran through her grandparents had garden, nor would she ever be.
Shaking the thoughts of her past, she tightened her armor as she saw fit, huffing as she pulled the best tighter against her muscular frame. Flashing a cold stare from her peripheral through the mirror as Tero tied the few remaining pieces of her armor together. She had grown bored with her mundane day to day office work and had decided to take a stroll outside the village to the disapproval of the village elders, who feared the absence of the Kage within the village would bring about a cause for alarm. To appease the elders, she had volunteered to personally handle the exchange of important documents between the village and a wealthy growing mercantile family, while operating in disguise, she drove her argument stating honor as a pivotal point in business negotiation. She had decided to leave Tero, her most trusted assistant behind in her stead, acting under full authority in her absence . In order to maintain a sense of security within the village she had only informed high ranking Blaze operatives of her departure. Operating in disguise as Ela Kyosh, a B rank Blaze operative. Alana had hoped to get some much needed time away from the structural binds of authority, while getting to know some of the younger shinobi in her ranks. Having covered herself in wraps, from head to toe and masked underneath, she took off early to take in the fresh morning weather quietly alone. She wore a loosely fighting white thawb over her robe and armor with a distinct orange pattern which would allow the other Nikkoussato shinobi to distinguish her as the mission dictated.
It was nearly dawn by the time she reached the Kataki Road crossroad point I’m which they were to rendezvous. The sun village Kage was indistinguishable, her face wrapped in a full faced veil only her eyes visible, a large black and yellow X weaved across the robes the only indication of any village affiliation. The thick oversized threads had made her appear larger in frame, her hair tucked away in a pinch underneath her headpiece. Those assigned to the escort mission were tasked to meet a cloaked individual wearing a black and yellow "X" stitched on their torso, then escorting said individual to a merchant palace near the lake by the Kataki road. They would use the callsign "Bluebird" as a means to distinguish and confirm the start of their mission with their benefactor. However, none would know the escort would in fact be their very own Nikkoukage under wraps. Leaning against the crossroads sign at the Kataki road, she waited patiently for the young shinobi to arrive.
