Since his rank had increased to B, Sojiro Sakura had found himself sent across the land on a plethora of missions. Originally, it was something that he had often complained about but as time went on, he realized that it was just something that came with the missions. Instead of spending time whining, he started to find ways to fit in his usual activities; reading, studying, training with his traveling companion, Augustus "Auggie" Nibblus. It had been a pretty active life as he traveled back and forth between the villages, trying to take different paths each time so that he could try and see new things. Today had been a little bit different, since instead of going to a certain location to handle a mission, he was put in charge of watching a stretch of road. Supposedly a messenger had been seen going back and forth around here, the Sun Village thinking that perhaps it was some type of mafioso relaying information back and forth. If that was the case, it could prove pretty handy in locating some of their bases so that he could clean up shop. Sojiro had thought of a bunch of ways that he could've gone about handling this mission but he decided on one idea.......
..... In the middle of the day, about two hours before the sun would disappear over the horizon, three men could be seen running down a path that wasn't used very often. The trees were thick on both sides, their tops creating a mostly shaded path as the trio moved down the road until they would set their eyes upon an odd sight in the distance. Down the road a bit there seemed to be a wagon that was toppled over, one of the wheels had broken and some of the crates had toppled out. There wasn't supposed to be anyone else that traveled on this road, so they would slowly approach the wagon and as they did, they would hear labored breathing. Suddenly, a voice would ring out, old and raspy, "Is... Is there anyone there? Help me, please..." As they came closer, it was clear the source of the voice was an old man who was balding on top, the rest of his hair white. The wagon seemed to have fallen onto his leg, the crates toppling afterward and washing over him in a painful wave. There were bruises and cuts on his body to support this story, "Y-young men, please... My horse ran away when the wheel broke..." He would plead with the men as soon as he saw them, trying his best to raise a hand towards them.
Two of the three men would look towards the oldest of them, a man who seemed to clearly be in charge, and would begin to ask him what to do. The conversation would involve a little bit of back and forth, debating on if this man was actually injured if it could be some sort of trap. Instead of deciding to just blindly help the man, the leader of the group would instruct the other two men to go help the old man with the cart. In the meanwhile, the Leader would go to step around the other side of the cart to try and see if he could find anything. The Leader would slide around the left side of the cart and move towards the front of it, letting his hand run along the side, trying to see if there was something out of place. He saw the bits of broken wheel on the ground as he walked, unsure of what could have caused such destruction. Perhaps it had been a trap that was set for them and instead, this old man had found is way into it? That was possible. As he moved around the front of the cart, he would look to see where the cart had been attached to the horse, finding something terrifying...
...Meanwhile, as the two men had slipped over to the cart to help the old man, he started to thank them for all of their help. One of the men would slide toward the cart, getting ready to slide his hands underneath so that he could lift up the cart. The other person would move towards the old man, pushing the boxes away from him and sliding his arms underneath the old man's, so that when his friend lifted the wagon, he could pull the man out. As the man lifted up the wagon, he would move to pull the old man and... He didn't budge. Instead, he found himself suddenly ripped forward off his feet and onto something that felt a person. The man was looking up at the old man, whose right arm was raised up and coming towards him and then darkness...
There was the crack of bones and the man turned around to catch a horrible sight, the old man from before had somehow pulled his friend into his lap and broken his neck. Before he could even scream, the old man moved with so much speed and grace that he suddenly knew the truth; This was a trap. Before he could even let out a scream, he felt the force of a punch against his chin and then so much force...
"Well, that was easier than I thought." Sojiro muttered to himself while disguised as an old man, easily having taken care of two men within moments of each other. Of course, he turned to the front of the cart where he knew the last man was, just as the The Leader stepped around to see the horror of his men murdered. He let out a scream and would turn around to start dashing away but, Sojiro would take a step forward and crouch low to the ground, tearing his hand into the earth and sending a wave of earth towards the man as he ripped up the ground. The rain of earth would pelt the man to death with no problem, causing him to fall to the ground in a bloody pile when he died. Sojiro would slowly walk towards the man, now knowing that his mission had been completed, before searching the man's body. Eventually he found a small satchel, containing an envelope inside. Sojiro would walk away from the carnage of his trap while opening the letter...
