"Are you ready for the second John Doe?" the voice of the coroner would snap her out of her thoughts. Right, there were two murders this time around. She nodded her head silently, her eyes taking in the body of the man that was lying before her. She would turn to see that one of the policemen at the scene was an old friend, Yuuta, who had worked with her multiple times. Ami nodded her head at him and would close in the distance between them. "Have you notified the family yet?" she would ask, knowing that perhaps it was time for her to pay a visit to all the families of the deceased. That was...six or seven families she guessed, but the girl really wanted to get to the bottom of these murder cases. For the sake of the village and its civilians. She shuddered at the thought of just how many civilian lives could be taken by the end of this massacre.
"We have their address on file but the family is out of the village right now. The wife and two children are visiting her parents in one of the neighboring villages and won't be returning until at least tonight or tomorrow morning." The Hyuuga would nod slowly, taking the address from Yuuta on a small slip of paper. She had decided it was best to pay the wife a visit the next day when she was sure that the woman would be at home. For the moment she would put the slip of paper in her pocket and follow the coroner to the temple, where she would only assume that the deceased was a monk. The Star temple was not a place tourists would usually visit. "We got a monk for our seventh body..." the coroner would again read her mind. Ami looked at him and shook her head. As though it was not enough that there were mountains of bodies appearing in various places around the village, the murderer just had to throw in a monk into the equation.
"I'm guessing the cause and time of death are the same as that other John Doe?" The Hyuuga would reach the body of the monk now, her eyes traveling along his body. She didn't need any verbal confirmation to know that the way he was killed was identical to the man they had found by the waterfall. "Are you serious? Are there no clues whatsoever?" She snapped at whoever would listen to her as she crouched over the dead monk, her knuckles turning white with fury while she clenched her fist. Seven bodies, all seemingly unrelated had already been found! How many more would they have to find before there would be some sort of lead. She was tired of this case, tired of feeling helpless. The girl took in a deep breath and closed her eyes, trying to calm herself as she watched the coroner examine the body. Ami knew there was no use getting all worked up at innocent people but the thought of not being able to find any clues after seven bodies was simply ridiculous.
"It seemed that he was attacked early this morning. His body temperature still remains slightly warm. My guess is that he couldn't have died more than two hours ago."
Two hours ago? This meant that whoever had killed the monk had probably camped out here at the temple after killing the John Doe at the waterfall. But why would he do that? He could have killed them both in a shorter span of time unless there had been a miscalculation or a wrench in the killer's original plan. It seemed odd to her that a monk would be one of the targets. Although there were seemingly no connections between the other six deceased, none of them were in any way religious nor connected to the temple, if she recalled correctly. Then why...the girl would open her eyes, her head turning to face the coroner. "I'm going to pay a visit to John Doe's house in the morning with Yuuta. Can you let me know if you find anything?" The man would nod his head as she got up from her position and walked slowly back to the village, deep in thought.
