"When we get Home;"
“I Know we Won’t Be Home at All!!”
There were few jobs that could make a Usagi call to action.
Mei Mei had not even needed to ask Hikari to carry out the task at hand. It all started with one of the younger Missing Ninja, a young girl, crying as she was pursued by thugs who had set up their own outpost within the nearby region. It was an outpost owned by Moon Shinobi who were young and amateurs when it came to the arts, but they seemed professional enough to be nothing short of horrible little creatures. Hikari did not know the sight of a young woman crying, but he knew the wails and miserable cries enough. They were similar to when he would hear the sound of the Usagi Clan’s girls coming from the local bars at work when they were harassed. Young, they were not old enough to defend themselves from the dregs of men who harassed them endlessly.
Thus, the sound of a young woman crying? It incited nothing short of rage within the rabbit!
“I will be back, Mei Mei-sama.” The rabbit would say in a calm tone, but his feet were tempered with each step. “Wait here.” Was the last words he would say to the young woman before closing the door to the encampment behind him. It had taken not long to travel from where he was and to the slums beyond Craiglorn. Often, Shinobi here were filled to the brim patrolling as criminal activity was high. Their egos higher as they seemed to believe they could do as they pleased. It only took a use of his Kekkei Genkai to know of laughter and boistering talk about how they committed the crime. How they held her hands, pinned her feet, and had their fill until they were bored.
Swine of the highest caliber. That is what the rabbit called them.
Hikari Usagi did not so much as nip at the flesh on his thumb as much as he would rip into flesh with his teeth. With a pained movement of his hand that he ignored as he went through the motions of his hand signs. With the last seal, he would slap his palm upon the terrain as erupting about him was a cloud of smoke and dust. It would clear away revealing the tall and lanky form of a white furry hare that would look down upon him with her superior stature. Her eyes glaring down upon the boy as she would narrow them as if to reveal her obvious disgust had Hikari could see it.
“You summon me? For something arbitrary?” The Hare would ask. “Foolish little rabbit. I regret giving you the cont-”
“I have a job for you!” Hikari’s voice cutting in as his fingers would curl. His hands tightening into fists as the Hare would become silent. Her chest would raise a bit as she was alarmed by his voice. It was, for once, absolute. “There is someone...I want you to punish! Is that not your role to the Sage?” As Hikari would say this, there would be a silence soon after. His blue eyes looking at the rabbit piercingly as they usually would not focus or interpret her form. However, they were convincing enough to move the Hare to fold her arms.
“I will bite, little bunny.” The Hare would say. “Who is the target, and what is their crime?”
The information was curt and to the point. The boy would explain the details that he gathered from the young woman and Mei Mei. The target’s location? Of course it was the house within the area. The outpost had a glowing window bright with shifting shadows and careless eyes that were blurred from drinking and taking puffs of their pipes. The Hare that would listen to the details would hear Hikari recount the information that he had gathered from the mouths of the men that ran like rivers. Each little detail would cause Banira to gaze on with a sharp glare. It was only with the heinous little facts that would cause her eyes to drift into a narrow as the gaze went blood red. It was obvious then that the Hare had heard her fill of the story.
The hare would allow her eyes to fixate on Hikari who had long finished his story. His information gathered from a distance using his ears on the little outpost on the outskirts of the village. The flowing white fur that blew off the body of Banira had been stirred wildly like a flame similar to her very own heart that was beating rapidly. Her hand would twitch as a spark would race across her fingers. The spark would ignite to a full-on raging current that collected into her palm. Hikari knew the sound of a thousand chirping birds that made him, even now, reach to his chest and grasp at his scar. Though, this time, he had no fear as he knew that he was not the target; not this time.
“One more question, little bunny,” The Hare raised her palm to her face, “When do I punish them all?”
Hikari would give a bob of his head acknowledging the deadly intent of the Hare. She was quite aggressive, but once he needed that. With a brooding expression on his face, the little rabbit would finally answer.
“Tonight. At dusk.” So their mission objective and time was set.
