He had heard that they were constructing a mighty arena in Debon and so Gen was off and away to setup the new home of his antics. He yearned for a place that he could see all sorts of martial forms and fight against the strongest that were around. He needed such a place to keep testing himself and growing as a fighter. Tournaments and arenas were the lifeblood of a martial artist if they wanted to truly master their art and self. He had a certain liveliness in his steps as he made for the Debon plains that he didn't know he had in him at this point. With everything else going on in his personal life this was a great escape for him to jump on. As he ventured on his way towards Debon he had come upon another traveling band of martial artists all hoping to help in the construction of the great arena that was purported to be built there.
The excitement rippling off them in waves of joy and exuberance. There were six men that were traveling there with him. An older man in his late sixties who went by the name Gonju, he was lithe and practitioner of something he called the open palm. It was a style based on quick repetitive strikes on joints and soft spots of the body to wear down the opponent while keeping yourself quick and with little energy used. There was Hojin who was a monk of Gekkousato and was a master practitioner with the staff, he seemed to prefer monkey like movements and acrobatic techniques. There was Bajinshi who was a younger man of maybe sixteen, he used the iron bangle technique of the south lands which was feared for its defensive nature. Then there were the brothers Honji and Sonji who were swordsmen using the scimitar, a weapon much loved by the desert tribes, they usually fought in tandem and were known as the sand vipers. Lastly there was Akemi who was a practitioner of karate just like Gen himself, except she was far more upper body strike based then himself, being a user of the hardened elbow techniques.
It was quite refreshing to have come across such interesting and accomplished warriors like himself, and their conversations made the travel much easier, after arriving at Debon they were quickly put to work on constructing the arena and its massive walls and stands. When they weren't constructing the arena, or preparing the various businesses begin installed into it, they were training them self and the new recruits that were to participate in the filler matches every day. The training would quickly become a competition between them as they all fought to do better then each other, only Gonju taking a side lined approached as he served as more of an elderly sifu to the rest of them, guiding them and instruction them with his expertise.
Hojin gave sermons and guided the men forward in their personal journeys of discovery here. the weeks that Gen Spent in helping to construct this arena as he would venture here every so often had begun to shape him and his martial prowess with each new visit. He was glad that he had decided to answer the call and join up with them. This was the greatest experience of self discovery he could have gone on at this point in his life and it proved to be trans formative for him, as his own style had begun to change now becoming closer to its own unique and distinct martial art and not just a re skinned version of the kyukushin style he practiced.
