The Final Four (Bijuu Event)

Part three is finally here, the conclusion to our first bijuu event! And folks it is going to be intense as the final phase is simply a battle royal between our final four participants. The rules are simple, this is a four man free for all where only one person can be crowned the winner. You win when your opponent has been knocked out or has admitted defeat. This will be considered a no death enabled yellow topic, but will follow every other rule and attribute for combat.

Spoiler:

Each person will be stationed at the corner of an imaginary square five meters from each other, creating a perfect square. The battlefield will be a flat snowy ground with no landmarks or obstructions save for a single campfire stationed in the center of the square, two meters from each person. This is a normal camp fire that gives of a normal amount of heat. Once everyone makes their first post, the post order will continue in the same order until someone is no longer able to continue, in which they will be skipped for the remainder of the topic. Once you post you must tag the next person, and they will have 24 hours to get their post out. If you do not post within your 24 hour window you will be skipped and any hits will be assumed to have landed. By the end of the fight there must be a winner, and you can not choose to draw or tie with each other.

Blonde hair fluttered through the afternoon air as Meloku stood there at one of the four corners of an imaginary square. She had been selected by her camp to join three others in some kind of experiment, something to do with the beast they had all just fought. Her white shinobi shoes crunched the snow beneath as she took her place, 5 meters from the other three participants. She really had no idea what was going on or why she was even here, the last thing she wanted to do was fight a bunch of strangers just for the right to have some scary monster sealed within her. However this was the moment she had been looking for, a chance to prove herself both to her village and to her fellow ninja. There were two sun shinobi here, herself and another she only recognized from around the village. The other two were moon ninja she had never met, but was extremely excited to see what they had to offer.

The task was a free for all fight, with the last person standing being declared the winner. This was the biggest and most dangerous thing she had ever done which made her extremely nervous right off the bat, even though the hardest part was just about to begin. Once all four people had gotten into place, the signal was given for them to begin. Meloku would pull out two kunai and would strap a paper bomb to the handle of each one. Dropping the first one directly beneath her at her feet, she would step on it, sticking it into the snowy ground right where she was standing.

After the first kunai had been jabbed into the ground Meloku would back up 5 meters, putting 10 meters of distance between her and the three other participants. She would take the second kunai and drop it into the snow behind her, much like she had done with the first one, then once again step on it, digging it into the ground. Her eyes would dart between her three opponents, throwing her hands up in front of her and preparing for whatever they might be capable of doing. For now her best bet was to sit back and analyze the battle.

The boy in white hair, Shinigai Kaguya, would make it apparent that she was his target as he yelled out in the afternoon air, being as loud and obnoxious as he looked. The other two participants had not really done to much, setting themselves up for the future battle much like she had done. The Kaguya was a different story as he was eager to begin the action, and had decided to direct his full assault at Meloku. She had already taken a defensive stance in preparation for something like this and because he had basically called her out she knew something was coming her way, giving her the time to anticipate something.

He would jump forward about 2 meters putting himself directly behind the campfire. As he would land the boy would begin to spin in a rapid motion, sending several large and sharp objects flying directly towards her in quick succession, one after another as they would fire out when he spun around to face her each time. Her eyes would go wide as she only had a split second to contemplate what to do, realizing that each spike had been fired directly at her center mass, aiming to pierce her body. Meloku would instantly drop flat to the ground, pressing her body into the snow and digging her chin into the dirt so that she could watch the boy continue to spin. One....Two... The bone spikes would begin to roar overhead creating a rhythm as each one was fire. Three...Four... They would continue to come one at a time as he spun around.

Now pressed against the cold surface Meloku would perform a quick set of hand signs as Shinigai continued to fire, using his jutsu as a way to set her own up. Five...Six... A large 10 meter long and ten meter tall yellow wall of pure plasma would rise up out of the ground two meters behind Shinigai, resting where he had once stood and running the length of the battle field, with each end being near Kannagi and Ami. Seven...Eight... The bones continued to roar overhead as the wall finished shooting up, Shinigai barely having a chance to notice it due to his furious rotating. Nine...Ten...

Meloku would instantly create a second hand sign to follow up the first, and would then pull the wall of solid plasma towards her, causing it to pass across the entire battle field. Kannagi and Ami would just be in the walls range, standing right on the edge of its passage, however Shinigai would be standing directly in the center of the 10 meter long wall, still firing off his jutsu as the wall would race towards them, and towards the woman lying in the snow. Eleven...Twelve... The wall would speed across the surface of the ground and would attempt to slam into the back of the rotating boy. If it managed to hit any of the three participants, they would feel a deep burning sensation as the plasma began to burn away at their clothing and their flesh. (Would consume FaP)

However it would not stop there as the wall itself was solid in nature, and would instead begin to push anyone hit by the wall with it, sliding them across the snowy surface. Shinigai would barely have any time at all to react as he was still preforming his own jutsu. The wall would collide with the boy, then begin to push him forward attempting to slide him through the campfire he was currently standing behind. If this succeeded then Shinigai would not only be extremely burned on his back side, but his front side would be slammed into the fire pit, ash, fire and embers assaulting the front of his body. His vision would be filled with the hot ash, his breath full of burning embers as the wood logs exploded against the surface of the wall, filling the air with smoke.

The wall would continue its movement towards Meloku until it was 5 meters in front of her, stopping at the same spot she had started the fight, attempting to position Shinigai right where she had been standing when the battle had first started. Her hope would be that he had been slammed by the wall and slide into position, both sides of his body burned and singed. She would continue to lay in the snow, keeping an eye on the other two to see what they did in response to the wall as well.

Kannagi drew her hands away from her hips as the scene unfolded with unusual haste. She had thought they were slow preparing, making careful plans and movements. Like a chess game, she knew better than to underestimate her opponents yet Shinigai seemed to have the opposite idea. He rushed forward towards the fire, propelling what looked like spikes of bone out at the blonde girl. So he had a special secret bloodline then; he hadn't shown it to her while on their mission but now she knew. Meloku wasn't dumb but it would appear she wasn't readied for that move. She threw herself on the ground but nobody would avoid a strike without a counter, ninjas knew better. Kannagi looked over to Ami: how was it that Shinigai challenged Meloku and Meloku would not counter against Shinigai? And how would it be if the only two left not fighting were to remain inactive? No, Kannagi knew what came next. She took several steps backwards, until she stopped at about 1m diagonally behind where she started, hoping to add an extra meter of distance between herself and her estimated attacker.

Ami, too, stepped backwards and out of range of Meloku's giant moving wall. Kannagi was thankful that she was also not in range of that particular move. Kannagi looked up as the wall moved passed her, not certain of how Shinigai would handle getting out of the way in time, but her focus was now set on Ami. As Ami made her handsigns, Kannagi set her jaw tight. It was as she thought then. Ami was coming for her or she wasn't a shinobi at heart. The area filled in with a layer of dense mist, a water jutsu then. She nodded slowly. Mist was to remain hidden while those eyes of Ami's would observe all the things Kannagi could not see. She lifted her hands and took a defensive pose, readying to leap or jump or avoid some sort of attack. But nothing ever came. Kannagi didn't see Ami's hand seals, Ami's raised finger aiming at her, or the water bullet that followed the motion. Luckily for her, the water bullet seemed to disperse amongst the mist, not making it to Kannagi where she stood alert and attentive. Kannagi was over the 5m range that Ami's jutsu could have harmed her from because both she and Ami had moved backwards away from each other.

The first thing that the kunoichi knew she had to do was get the mist out of her way. It was an unfair advantage that would only positively affect Ami. By completing a set of hand signs, she caused a light burst of wind to rise and rotate upwards. The wind wasn't very strong but it was strong enough to lift up the mist, at least within a 10m diameter circle that centered on Kannagi, a diameter of fresh air and tiny frosty particles in the air. Even as the enormous mist enclosed around the group, Kannagi's jutsu would nearly reveal an open area at the edge of which rested the campfire and where Shinigai had dashed forward to; stepping outside of her windy circle meant going back into Ami's mist. "Nice one," She said the girl with byakugan eyes, "But I will not make this so easy for you." With her fuinjutsu armor secretly still in use, the blue haired woman had much to gain by keeping her patience and there was no way she would be forgetting that the blonde girl and the kaguya shared the field with them.

On her wrist, Kannagi wore her senbon launcher, already loaded up with a stack of senbon. She aimed them at Ami: five senbon projecting outwards across the tundra camp and aimed well, one directly at Ami's neck and chest area and two senbon to either side of her, off by about six inches to a foot so that if Ami tried to side step in either direction, she continued to place herself at risk. Kannagi, of course, operated on where she had seen Ami last. Even if they didn't hit Ami, Kannagi would keep an ear out for the sound of feet crunching on snow or the sound of her as she tried to jump out of the way. Maybe Kannagi would even get lucky if Ami wasn't hit, maybe she would gasp or shriek in surprise!

Meloku would continue to lie there pressed against the ground as she watched Shinigai cut his jutsu short in order to dodge her own attack. Smart boy. He would begin to run south avoiding the progressing wall and putting some more distance between himself and her. He would move a little bit closer to the other woman, Kannagi, Meloku suddenly noticing the thin layer of mist beginning to rise up all around them. Someone else had created this thin veil of mist which was now coating the entire battle field, eventually blotting out all vision. As the mist would rise however she would have just enough time to watch the white haired Kaguya relocate and thrust his arms outward, his image quickly fading behind the curtain of white mist. She would bet money another attack was coming her way.

Everyone already knew that she was currently pressed in the snow, and as the mist blotted out her vision she knew it would be smart to reposition herself, however Shinigai had other plans as the sickening sound of bones emerging from his skin could be heard, even if ever so slightly. It was the exact same sound that his body had just made when he fired his first wave, a gross sound of ripping flesh and sliding bone. So another attack huh? She continued to lay pressed against the ground half expecting another wave of rhythmic bones to soar overhead. However they did not come at the same speed as the first wave. Did he shoot them somewhere else? He had know her position, maybe he opted to fire them somewhere else. The bones would not reach the woman as quickly as the first set due to being arched up and over, gravity bringing them downwards.

Her eyes went wide once again as it dawned on her, the attack would come from above! Rolling onto her back the woman peered up into the white void only to suddenly see the mist part for a brief second as an object came rushing down where she had just been lying. Taking one more roll to the right Meloku would end up back on her belly as not one, but several bone spikes would thud into the ground all around her, with one expertly landing right where she had just been laying. The rest of the bones would all land around here, having a meter of space between them. He was a good shot she had to admit. Luckily she had only rolled a foot or so to her right, allowing her to avoid any further spike. It was one hell of a close call, but it did give her an idea. The blonde woman would suddenly scream out into the mist, as loud and as savage as she could, mimicking a wound. Not only would she scream in agony but she would also deactivate her Storm Wall, giving off the illusion that the jutsu had ended due to her being knocked unconscious.

She needed to put more distance between herself and the group, for some reason she was the focus of the assault, and knew that if she could remove herself from the situation the others would have to turn on each other. There could only be one winner after all. Forcing chakra to the flat bottoms of her feet the woman would slowly stand, using the chakra on her shoes to mimic the water walking technique, but instead using it to cross over the snow. This would have two effects, the first would allow her to walk across the surface of the snow like it was solid ground, preventing her feet from crunching the white flaky stuff and alerting anyone that she was in fact conscious. The second outcome would be that her walking would no longer leave any impressions in the snow, covering up which direction she had just moved in.

Now that her tracks would be covered and her foot steps muffled, the woman would push forward 5 meters directly to her right, putting her 14 meters from Shinigai and 12 meters south of Ami. Currently still hidden by the mist, Meloku would turn around, take out two more bomb strapped kunai and take up another defensive stance, keeping her eyes locked in the direction of the rest of the group. She would sit patiently and wait, hoping the others now thought she was done.

The wall that had sprung up flickered out with the screams of a woman. It wasn't coming from the right direction to be Ami so she had to assume the person in pain was Meloku. Shinigai had passed in front of her and it occurred to her that he needed her winds to be able to see as well. Perhaps, he would abstain from attacking her until Ami was finished off or perhaps being so close to her with Meloku fallen would mean that Kannagi was the next viable target. The kunoichi wasn't sure of his intentions or plans, if he had any. She didn't hear the sound of footsteps in the snow or the sound of a pained gasp; her senbon had to have failed to hit her target. The only way they could have missed after being fired from her launcher and that Ami might avoid the strike without a sound was if Ami had gone upwards. Kannagi lifted her blue eyes upward, looking for another expected attack or even the girl herself through the mist.

She could see a meter past the fire and she squinted, lifting her arms again, readying in her defensive pose. The moment she saw the kunai was the moment she reacted with her senbon launcher again: shooting the two kunai with one senbon each to knock them off course. With Kannagi's fortune one of the kunai had missed a direct strike and instead the senbon tore the explosive tag and deactivated it, but the other had only knocked the blade off course. From the fire it spun to the side, falling five meters to the right of the fire, according to Kannagi's eyes and estimation. Had it activated over there, it might hit Shinigai or Meloku: Kannagi couldn't tell exactly where the bombed blade had landed and so she just hoped that if it went off it would deal some damage or clear out the fog in the area around it with such a force. The kunai with the broken explosive tag upon it was barely altered of on its course and Kannagi had to move forward 1m and duck her head slightly to be sure that the kunai went over her without striking her at all.

Kannagi looked over at Shinigai then with a sly look in her eye and then pointed to him, "I don't know exactly where, but maybe you should head that way into the mist." She indicated that he should seek out Ami. "Let us two be the last ones standing here," Kannagi suggested to the male with a nod, "You don't want to face me right now." Her smile was intense and she let it stay that way, hoping to motivate Shinigai to play on her side and go after Ami now that Meloku was likely gone for. "I'll even help a little," Kannagi added on to sweeten the deal. She moved herself forward 2m until she stood in front of the fire; the encircling wind moved with her and cleared the fog around her. The kunoichi performed the seal and felt the wind chakra creep over her arms with a barely visible blue hue. With a wide slashing arc of her arm, she shot a single slash of wind towards Ami, out across from the fire and a straight line.

She hadn't known Ami was actually in range of this jutsu and instead had planned for her attack to only open a now mist-free path for Shinigai to go down. The wind blade was sharp and strong and if Ami got hit by it, well at the least it would really hurt. Without anyone else knowing, the Sun shinobi would save the other two slashes of wind chakra, having already paid the chakra necessary to throw them out. The blue haired woman could see the strikes being more useful in the coming battle.

Kannagi watched as her wind slash was blocked by Ami's arm and shield like chakra. She nodded her approval, glad for the extra knowledge of Ami's abilities and impressed that she didn't run away but faced her attack head on. Shinigai stood off to her left and although she distinctly recalled a scream and the assumption that Meloku had fallen, Kannagi could now see that the blonde was in fine shape. The blonde stood at a distance holding kunai in a defensive position. Shinigai with his bones and physical talents, the blue haired woman knew that he was much improved in terms of close ranged fighting. She would let him go on towards Ami as he intended, but she would not join him. Meloku needed to be dealt with and not ignored before she became a problem.

Moving 2m forward with the fire at her left side, Kannagi performed hand seals and unleashed reams of paper from her arms while holding the final seal with her hands pressed together. The paper flowed away from her, swirling swiftly over the area to chase after Meloku. Kannagi hoped to grab one of her arms first, preventing her from making any movements with the limb and taking away jutsu and throwing that kunai towards anyone. This jutsu was powerful given that it could continue to chase her target until it landed, under the control of the blue haired kunoichi. Yet, that was not all Kannagi could do. Efficiency was necessary now that she knew she was no closer to winning than she was a few minutes ago. Meloku had to be taken out.

Kannagi moved 3m forward keeping the fire on her left and keeping a glance on both Ami and Meloku as she had intended. She lifted both of her arms and swung them together without breaking her final seal to hurl the last two of her wind chakra blades out towards Meloku. One chakra slash went for the blonde from her left and the other came diagonally and forward. Moving forward or backwards would put her at risk of one of the wind strikes and moving to the left or right would keep her in danger as well. Staying still however would be no good either as then Meloku would get hit by both strikes of her wind jutsu. It was sharp and dangerous, able to remove limbs and gouge out holes in the ground. The two jutsu going after Meloku would be a strong challenge for even a shinobi of Kannagi's rank to defend against.

The mist suddenly began to disperse as the view of battle came back into sight. Meloku had managed to buy herself a few seconds with her facade, listening to the sounds of combat rage out in the mist, but her break was over as all three opponents would now be able to see her standing there in the snow. The jig was up, it was time to go back to work. Apparently some sort of pact had been made between Kannagi and Shinigai as they were switching targets, most likely realizing that the Kaguya was better suited for close range combat and the blue haired woman was better for Meloku. This was apparent as Kannagi began to make hand seals, creating swarms of what appeared to be paper now rushing towards the blonde woman.

She did not have much time and was running out of options, while she could play hide and seek with the white haired boy, it would be a much rougher game to play against this woman. Quickly replacing both kunai on her waist Meloku would complete a quick set of hand signs as the paper would reach her, attempting to swarm around her limbs and restrain her. Luckily enough she had just to technique to defend against this, at least for the moment. Meloku's substitution jutsu would take effect as soon as the paper tried to confine her, replacing her body with the bomb strapped kunai she had planted in the snow 5 meters to her left. The kunai would hover in the air for a second before falling through the paper and landing on the ground, effectively pulling the woman to safety and causing her to dodge the wind slices without even knowing they had been fired.

Meloku would vanish, then reappear 5 meters to her left, but 1 meter south of the location where the paper bomb had been summoned from. This would put her 6 meters from her starting point, where her first kunai was, and 8 meters south of Kannagi's location. Her peripherals would notice the swarm of paper begin to move and change direction, as if it was following her. "Oh shit" She had to act fast, especially if this thing could follow her. Meloku would quickly hold a single sign, activating the paper bomb that was only two meters from Kannagi, causing the thing to explode in the snow and erupting out 5 meters in all directions. The blast would for sure consume kannagi and just barely reach Meloku, as she was now standing on the edge of its blast zone.

Regardless if the eruption had gotten the blue haired woman or not, Meloku would suddenly take off running forward into the smoke and ash trying to put as much distance between her and the paper. Hopefully the blast was enough to cause Kannagi to drop her sign and end the paper game of tag. Meloku would move her full 5 meters, moving up the same path she had used to come this way, causing her to pass diagonally up, moving past Ami's own paper bomb and putting the pale blonde woman 1 meter south of where she had detonated her own bomb. She would wait for the smoke to clear to assess just how effective her move had been.

Kannagi watched Meloku as she used the substitution jutsu to avoid her paper for just a single moment. Kannagi altered her stance to a more firm one, unafraid and unmoving as she kept holding her seal and her kami coffin papers raced after Meloku once more. Meloku activated one of her hidden bombs, but had been on the edge of the blast herself. Kannagi grit her teeth and turned her face to the side but did not let her jutsu go. Her armor protected her from the blast and from the fire of the bomb, but did Meloku have something to protect her from its damage? "Why would you set that off and hit yourself in the process?" Kannagi asked loudly, the smoke fizzling down from the air and slowly fading out, "It makes no sense!"

The blue haired kunoichi didn't have to see the blonde in order to keep her paper moving. She stepped 2m towards the side, moving in the same line she had moved prior. Her paper jutsu chased Meloku down again, still aiming for an arm to catch onto and render immobile. Then the area was filled with a dense mist once more causing Kannagi to scowl. She continued to hold her seal steady even as she called out to Meloku from behind the misty cover, "If you give up, you'll save some of your time and mine. I promise to knock you out gently!" Just in case there was plans for another attack, Kannagi continued moving once she finished speaking. Based on where she had been seen last and based on where her voice had come from, her opponents would likely aim for the place where she no longer stood: 3m forward along the same straight path.

Shinigai was a bit dumbfounded but mostly annoyed at the force sent toward his attack. As the bones would strike the attack and be scattered to the left and right of their position. Sighing he would Run his full 7 meters to get to the girl as he would suddenly notice she was preforming the same horrible hand signs that caused this match to be such a pain in the butt. Stopping he would grip his bo staff and ready himself for the next attack as he would feel his chakra weakening. Sure he could try to attack the hyuuga but how would it help if he had no vision on the girl. Gripping his bo staff tightly he would think just how he would beat Ami once and for all.

Meloku would watch as the bomb erupted, covering both the area and the blue haired woman in smoke and flame. Ash would fill the air, the force of the blast blowing back her blonde hair as she took off running towards the site of the explosion. She had already made it 5 meters and was now 1 meter south of where she had started this battle. This issue at hand was still the cloud of paper now chasing after her. The cloud of smoke did not last long and had disapaited early enough for her to locate the swarm, however somethign else happened before she had time to do anything.

The battlefield had once again filled with mist, coating the entire area in a layer of foggy whiteness. Kannagi would vanish in the white veil as everything faded. Her enemy had called out in the emptiness, mocking her and telling her to give up. To be honest, she was nearly out of options, but giving up, especially against a higher ranked shinobi, was not something she would consider. She would fight until she could not fight anymore. Meloku had no other options left when it came to combating the paper storm, so decided to prepare the best way she could.

Moving to the right 5 meters, Meloku would complete a set of hand signs, two bright yellow storm rods appearing, one in each of her hands. They were pulsating rods of plasma, flickering back and forth like some kind of laser sword from stories about space monks. She would reverse hold the two rods, allowing each one to sit on the inside of her forarms, wrist to shoulder. The paper had finally found her, and would begin to wrap around her left arm, consuming both her arm and the storm rod.

She winced as the paper bound her arm, restricting its movement and holding her in place. It had succedded in attaching to her, for now. She would use both laser rods to begin to slice through the paper, one from inside and the other from the outside. She would not have enough time to combat the paper right now, but would not allow the paper to spread, keeping it confined to just one limb.

Kannagi Irezumi took a deep and slow breath, still holding her hand sign. She wouldn't be able to hold the jutsu forever and she knew it would run out by the time she had another action to make. It had just enough juice to hold Meloku's left arm and hand immovable. There would be no jutsu coming her way in the next few seconds at least, she was sure of that. She listened carefully for the sound of Meloku's feet and heard them crunching across the snow in a straight line before stopping. The storm rods that Kannagi could not yet see had no effect on the paper over Meloku's arm, given the power behind the paper jutsu.

The blue haired woman moved 3m cautiously through the mist, diagonally towards the sound of Meloku's stopping sound. Meloku was there then, directly to her side. Quickly the kunoichi swapped her hand seals, performing one handed jutsu with each of her hands. Her right hand quickly slapped the kunai in her pocket and placed a seal there, able to draw out the chakra of her target: Meloku. Her left hand coated in wind chakra and unleashed a duo of wind slashes towards the blonde at close range. The first was aimed horizontally across her torso, the second came arcing down from above the woman's head. Kannagi was quick and precise with her jutsu, understanding that she put Meloku in a very difficult spot before dropping off some of her hard to stop moves. She wanted to be efficient and focused, taking out the shinobi before her without hesitation or overkill, but ensuring that the moves once complete would secure the defeat of the girl before her. The wind slashes were incredibly hard to see, holding a bare tinge of blue that in these mists would be a near miracle to make out. The wind slashes would at least have enough force in them to push out the mists from around Meloku and Kannagi by a meter or two and allow them to fully see each other in this moment.

The paper would continue to wrap itself around her arm, holding her in position so that Kannagi could unleash her next attack. The mist would suddenly part as some form of wind attack had been unleashed, sending two twin slices of wind directly at her. The blonde woman braced for impact, the paper holding her arm so that she could not physically do anything. Her left arm would rise up, using the storm rod to mitigate some of the damage, using it like a shield to hold off some of the impact.

She would feel the paper begin to loosen up as the woman's jutsu was ending, however it was two late, as the twin slices found their target. Meloku would let out a cry of pain as the wind would tear into her body. She would grit her teeth and push through, the wind tearing her clothing, some of her hair and attempting to knock her off her feet. Normally the attack would have tore into her flesh and would have delivered a devestating blow, but she had summoned her resolve to brace the impact, the wind brushing off of her, only leaving light scratches and ripped clothing on the woman.

She had just finally gained function of her arm, but did not have enough time to react or make a counter as she was just barely grasping on to consciousness. She was nearing her limit, the battle would soon be over for the sun shinobi.
