    The Objective:

Ryojin had chosen a mission this time that was going to be a bit more of a pain, but it was purely for the advancement of the ease of trading between both villages. He had chosen to be an escort for a mission that was definitely going to be a bit over his head if he had to fly it solo, but thankfully, he had heard wind that two sun shinobi were in on it too. The long trek was from one village, the moon, to the other, the sun. In other words, Ryojin was headed back into the desert again. The idea made him absolutely miserable.

The merchant was fine. That wasn't going to be the drag with this mission. The drag with this mission was the merchant's child. The small soon-to-be prince of currency. Ryojin was in the act of giving this small child a piggy back ride as was the order of the child's father. He was a shinobi not a house slave. It seemed this man wasn't sure exactly how things were supposed to work.

It might've not been that bad if it weren't for the fact that the kid decided to yank on Ryojin's tied back hair to change the direction he was walking. It was pretty crystal clear to any on comers that Ryojin was two steps from murdering a small child and the merchant and his group were none the wiser. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. The word was resounding in his head almost as more of a mantra than anything else.

It was early morning, the sun was just rising over the horizon. The soft mist made it cool, but not the entire trip would be. Ryojin had already experienced the desert once. It had not gone as well as he had hoped. At least this time he had finally managed to figure out how to use his ice chakra even in the desert. Truth be told, he would have never discovered the jutsu and abilities he had if not for his initial visit.

Sojiro and him had spent the last few days in town and were bunking together, a fun endeavor for the both of them as they were close friends. Gen in particular enjoyed it because he had never had the whole sleepover experience ever in his life, growing up in the orphanage meant no visitors. As the mornings light broke through the curtains in the room, Gen began mustering slowly, and was ushered faster by Sojiro attempting to wake him. Rising from his bed, he searched his bag for a protein bar and scarfed it down quickly before taking a sip from his canteen.

Getting out of bed fully, he began to get dressed and put on his standard attire of boots, pants, dress shirt and flak jacket, securing the canteen to his belt flap in the back as he was now ready for whatever this escort mission had in store for him today. Seeing the boy on the moon shinobi who was to be their comrades shoulders, and the pained look on his face, Gen looked down and spoke in his kind but deep voice, "
Hello there young one, do you want to ride on my shoulders, you'll be so high up you can practically see anything!", growing up with a multitude of other kids and continuing to assist the orphanage almost every day, had given him a certain way with children that was undeniable. He would extend his arms over to the boy, and would easily deposit him onto his well muscled hulking frame.

Carrying the boy effortlessly with him as they approached the wagons he had to deal with his fear of horses some day, and unfortunately it seemed like that was now. These ones weren't even as captivating as Cirilla to ease the moment! Nonetheless he had a child on his shoulders and couldn't show he was scared if he didn't want to upset the Merchant who was commanding this mission. When Sojiro suggested he lead the wagon, Gen groaned and flashed him a death glare, before bounding up to the drivers seat in a single leap, barely jostling the boy. Grabbing the reins in hand he would wait until they were all loaded up before taking off, "
Come sit next to me little one, I'll show you how to drive", as he said the boy quickly leaped down and sat next to him, as Gen wrapped an arm over the boy and held the reins firmly in both hands the boy holding on to them as well. Even bratty merchant sons could be enticed with basic kindness and dream fulfillment. This was also cathartic for Gen as he could use the motions he had observed over the years and Kannagi's to teach this boy and take his focus off the animals in front of him in a sense.

Thank whatever out there decided Ryojin deserved a reprieve from being forced to be in the big brother role. Ryojin had managed to make himself slightly uncomfortable by wondering if he had been the same with his brother when they were younger. He gave forth a long sigh and relished in his momentary freedom. The merchant and the others in the carriage at this point gave soft chuckles. Ryojin bowed to gen in silent thanks. They had known very well how difficult the small price tag prince would be. Though, upon Genkumaru seeming to have a magical way with the child the men inside seemed taken aback completely, and this led Ryojin to snicker on his own.

The boy seemed to remain super focused on gen at this point enjoying being above the whole world and enjoying learning how to drive. Ryojin had now made his way over to Sojiro. "Not getting run ragged yet huh? And... yeah... This is a favor for my father seeing as how I didn't mention going off to the sun. Apparently he was a bit worried... I won't go into details but it wasn't pretty." Ryojin let out a rather hearty laugh for him and rubbed at the back of his head.

"Jeeze. That guy is tall. Is he from the sun too then Sojiro?" Ryojin asked as the other was distracted with the bratty child. Ryojin pondered over how the girl with the crimson eyes was doing. Their encounter with the tiger had been rather fun, but he still felt like he had maybe gotten on her nerves. He shook the thoughts away to bring himself back to the present. "Oh! I can't wait! I have some new jutsu! That visit to the sun helped a ton! It motivated me to practice a lot harder. I think these jutsu i'll even be able to use in the desert this time!"

He had heard them talking about him from above but payed it no mind, as Sojiro was taking him up anyways, and he gathered a good deal of info about Ryojin in the process. Looking down at the boy who had been awful earlier he now only saw a small child full of exuberant laughter, telling Genkumaru that this boy wasn't difficult for the sake of it, but that more then likely he was in need of attention for things he wanted to do that were healthy. He could only imagine how neglectful it must be to belong to the world of this boy's father.

As day turned to night, he would help with setting up the campfires using his explosions in a small scale form. He then would joke around and drink with the men of the caravan jubilantly, replacing a chunk of his consumption of alcohol with water when the others were not looking, to stay more alert. He had a job to do here after all. When it came time to bed down, he stayed near the wagon he and the others were assigned too. Relaxing under the moonlight he would have drifted off fast to sleep, yearning to see what the next days adventure would bring.

As the next day took hold, he would wake up early and get a quick workout in, before proceeding to join the others in morning chatter and eating. It was here that he would finally speak directly to Ryojin, "
Sorry for not introducing myself directly yesterday. I was occupied with saving you from the young master. My apologies however, I am Genkumaru Iwamura.", and with that he would bow to the man with a warriors bow, his hands raised up to form a fist and chop like sign resting on the fist in front of him. Once everyone saddled up and was ready to be off in the morning, he would load up into the top of the wagon to play look out today.

"I thought I said aint no rest for the weary, but sure, wicked too!" He let out a healthy chuckle and gave forward a soft smile. He had taken to sticking atop the carriage himself the first day. He laid in wait, almost hoping for something to happen, but the first day seemed like it was going to be uneventful. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing. He felt some sense of comfort being with these two. It would be much easier with two people unlike their experience in the desert trying to fight off that monster of a lizard.

He contributed for the evening by maintaining a patrol around the camp. It was easy enough for him to keep an eye about. There was no need for real cover, so he would keep the weather as it was. There was no need for him to bring forth the snow. He kept himself up through the majority of the night. At day break, he made his way back to the camp.

"Sojiro did a fine job at introducing you. I really appreciate the save, forgive me for not thanking you earlier. I am Ryojin Tosho, an Ice User of the moon village." He gave the man a bow as well, though his was more of that of a traditional martial artist; hands flat at his sides, back remained straight, eye contact maintained with Gen the entire length. He chose to make his way to the front of the wagon this time. The boy still wanted to remain at the front of the wagon after yesterday and even so much as apologized to Ryojin. It was enough for him to rest a hand on the boy's head gently and he smiled. There was no need for unwarranted hostility anyway.

"Its a pleasure to meet you Ryojin, and no worries, I am super used to kids! I also know when someone needs a break, so anytime man."

Having found a good resting spot after the hearty breakfast that Sojiro had made for all of them, the Itis hit Gen hard. Sleeping away most of the current day in the back of the wagon after his conversation with Ryojin, he would dream about lions for some reason. A gargantuan silver lion looked over the southern plains of Nikkousato, high atop a pride rock like locale, gazing down onto the Savannah with its Ice blue eyes.

As the dream went on, several more lions came into view, of all shades and sizes with a view of a crimson furred lion cub being the last thing he saw, before he was snapped to in front of the Silver lion, its eyes seemingly piercing through his soul. It would sniff him, before roaring with a bestial awe inspiring sound, causing the other lions to roar after him with progressively weaker roars, finally ending with the crimson lion cubs mewl. The Silver one extended a paw towards Gens body and touched his chest, a light blue paw print forming on his right pectoral from the touch.

In an instant after the experience he was awoken in cold sweats, looking out towards the others in the cart with a bewildered look plastered on his face, "
Huhh! Where are we? Did you guys see a giant lion?", hopefully they had come near the end of their journey and were just outside Gekkousato as it was the second day, but regardless Genkumaru was now spooked. Getting up to go topside he would sit next to Sojiro, something very obviously off about him.

Ryojin had kept watch. It had remained uneventful. No wolves? Thank god. I don't think I'd be able to handle another run in like the last. Though, this time at least I'd have some back up... His thoughts trailed off as they had made it to Gekkousato. Hearing the man wake suddenly brought Ryojin to a shift and he had made his way to the top of the carriage as well, making it a bit crowded, but careful not to land on any of the others. "Did you say a giant wolf?!" Ryojin hadn't shouted, but there was a clear and distinct worry in him. He had looked behind them, but after a moment, he laughed seeing as how nothing was around in an attempt to play it off.

"Are you alright Gen? You look spooked." Ryojin at this point retracted his bo staff. It was clear he still was a bit uneasy, but with his attitude it wouldn't last much longer. "This world seems to be quite the animal kingdom." Ryojin said it with almost a bit of longing, but after a moment he made his way back to the front of the carriage. They were close enough to the sun village that it wouldn't be a problem at all from here.

"Whelp, welcome back home boys!" He chuckled as the village appeared on the horizon.
