The Sun Shinobi known as Sojiro Sakura had decided to spend most of his time during the festival vacationing in the Moon Village. Of course, this didn't actually mean that the man was able to take some time off, he was still on active-duty after all! And today had been one of those sad days where he had woken up with an envelope slid underneath the door of his hotel room, detailing his mission. Of course, as he walked around the hotel room slowly getting ready for his mission, he had to keep reading the details, "They're kidding, right?" No matter how many times he looked at it, the idea that they couldn't get their own people to handle this, was annoying. There had been reports of rodents on Champion's Island, eating through the testing dummies and even scaring off some of the younger Genin while they were trying to train. Sojiro had met with many Moon Shinobi and one thing he never thought about them was that they were weak; a report like this had made him think differently. "This is ridiculous, they're just making me do their damn chores now."
But, even with all his grumbling, around noon Sojiro would be stepping off the ferry that carried people to the island for training Genin. He only wore a pair of pants and his Flak Jacket, not bringing any of his shinobi tools with him since he was confident this was going to be an easy mission. "Rats..." He muttered to himself before laughing again, the idea that they couldn't exterminate this situation themselves still entertaining to the man. Eventually he would come to see the beach where he spent the night training with Ryojin and Ken, though that was over a month ago at this point, so there was no evidence of that night anymore. The black-haired man would walk along the beach for a bit, slowly moving from training dummy to training dummy while sniffing the air.
And then he saw one of the dummies, the straw that was inside partially torn out of it, the backside of it torn open. The dummy was still standing up, which was weird, seeing as a bunch of rats would've easily knocked it over and been able to steal the hay. As it was, it looked as though it climbed up the pole and then ate it? Or... It was a big rat. He shook his head at that, laughing a bit more, "Ah, now that'd be something." While his nose was sniffing a bit, he would eventually move to grab a few pieces of hay and bring them to his nose. He slid the hay around until he eventually found a long hard of dark color, smelling faintly the foul order of the rodent on it, "Got you." He spoke to himself before standing up and moving away from the beach and towards the center of the island a bit more.
Sojiro moved through the forest for about five minutes as the scent of the rodents got stronger, leading him into a thicker and thicker group of bushes that he eventually needed to jump over. When he landed, the stench of the rats were the strongest, a collection of hay and other materials spread out in front of him. It was clear that he had found the nest of the rats but... No rodents? Now that was weird. And that was when he heard something cause the bush behind him to shuffle, causing Sojiro to twirl on his feet with one hand out to stop whatever small rat was coming at him...
And instead, he was greeted by a rat that was the size of a dog! The weight of it would press against him and cause him to fall over, the rat biting into his arm several times. Its teeth drove into his skin and drew blood with ease, causing him to scream out and summoning chakra into his free left arm. He would throw forth a powerful Cherry Blossom Impact that would send the rat flying off of him and colliding into a tree with several loud cracks. The rate would fall to the ground, dead upon impact. Sojiro was holding his bleeding arm and preparing to heal himself, moving onto his knees and starting to stand up, when there was the sound of more movement and pressure on his back! Another rat had gotten behind him and this time he felt sharp claws digging at his Flak Jacket, thankfully protecting him for now. The rat's teeth would come down onto his shoulder and tear a chuck out of the man.
He screamed out in more pain and would reach backward, digging his fingers painfully into the fur of the giant rodent and rip it off his back and throw it onto the ground in front of him. The rat held onto his Flak Jacket and tore parts of it out, making it a useless piece of material. Once the rat was on the ground in front of him, the man would turn to raise his right leg and then bring it down painfully onto the rat's neck, breaking it in an instant. Sojiro would now be standing, letting his eyes dart around for a few moments until he realized he was alone. He had killed them. As he started to heal his wounds, heading back towards the ferry, he grunted to himself.
"Rodents of Unusual Sizes... I guess they do exist."
