Name: Sporewood Infestation
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Rank: D-C-B
Element: Wood
Cost: 10-15-25
Range: 20/40/60 Meters
Duration: Permanent
Description:
The user emits a cloud of countless Sporewood spores that emanates out from them according to the range of the rank they used this jutsu at. The cloud fills the area with a white misty haze, but isn't thick enough to fully obscure vision. If the D-Rank version is used, the user can designate up to five hundred spores to become seeds as part of the same casting. If the C-Rank version is used, then in addition to the D-rank and D-Rank effects, the user can designate fifty seeds to become sprouts. If the B-Rank version is used, then in addition to the C-Rank and D-Rank effects, the user can designate five sprouts to become trees. This is called Overgrowth.
Overgrowth can target spores, seeds and sprouts that are already present, or target spores, seeds, and sprouts that were created with the same use of this jutsu.
Sporewood Properties: Sporewood is an altered version of Wood Release developed by Nemotoashi Houga. It is made with a much higher concentration of water element instead of earth. It is much softer than Wood, and does not splinter. It is a hybrid of fungus and wood. Sporewood jutsu completely counters Water jutsu of equal or lower rank, absorbing them into any Sporewood that makes contact with the jutsu. Higher ranked Sporewood jutus can directly absorb chakra from a victim or water jutsu (detailed in specific jutsu, not a base ability). When Sporewood is destroyed, it releases a burst of spores that fills roughly twice the area around which it was occupying before. This does not occur if the Sporewood was destroyed by fire element from a jutsu of higher rank than the user.
Life Cycle:
Sporewood starts as a spore. A spore is less than a one tenth of a centimetre wide. They have tiny barbs that let them cling to trees and clothes. A large amount of them resemble low hanging clouds. Sporewood jutsu cannot target spores besides Sporewood Infestation, and spores cannot grow while within a creature's body.
The next cycle is seed. A seed is a sphere two inches in diameter. It has hundreds of half inch long hooks for clinging. They resemble nuts, but you probably shouldn't eat them. If there are more than one seeds within two meters of each other, Nemotoashi Houga decides which seed becomes a sprout, and only one does. A seed cannot become a sprout within two meters of a sprout.
The third cycle is sprout. A sprout is a sphere one foot in diameter. It has two dozen or so six-ten foot long tendrils with tiny barbs covering them. They function as both root and branch. If there are more than one sprouts within fifteen feet of each other, Nemo decides which flowers. A sprout cannot become a tree within fifteen feet of a tree.
The final stage is tree. A sporewood tree is a sphere six feet in diameter with dozens of at least fifteen foot long tendrils that function as root and branch. All of these are covered with spores, that are constantly floating off. Thus the trees are always surrounded by a misty white haze that emanates 3 meters from all parts of the tree.
