    Shizuka and Arashi would arrive. Though the area was a couple of thousand acres it was one particular area that people seemed to get attacked. Shizuka and Arashi would need to split up a little, roughly 20 meters apart as they looked for anything out of the ordinary. Tracks leading in or out, explosion marks, or even bodies.

    "Be on Alert, we could be attacked at any moment."

    Shizuka walked out with one of her Katana drawn choosing to keep the more cumbersome Executioner's blade strapped to her back. She would stop, finding pieces of broken rocks. She tapped it against the ground, feeling how hard it was. They were close to the scene of the crime. These rocks were hard and the broken pieces did suggest explosions.


    "Are you finding anything?"
    Shizuka would call out to her mission partner. Shizuka used her sensory technique to look for any heartbeats other than herself. However, she sensed none, not even of small animals. At least not Yet.

    Arashi started to search as soon as she did, he wasn't really good at this sort of thing but he would try his best to not disappoint. when Shizuka told him to be on guard Arashi nodded "Yeah I know, you don't have to worry about me. let's just focus on finding out what happened here."

    He would turn some stones and pieces of a cart, trying to find pieces of weapons, if they used explosion tags from a distance, then they would've had to tie them to a weapon. Unless it was either sabotage or a sneak attack since if they would've just thrown them, they would've simply floated unpredictably around, and that would've been a poor strategy.

    Shizuka spoke again, asking if Arashi found anything worth noting. "Well, I guess... The first thing I'm noticing is that there are a small amount of weapon parts and almost none of them are shinobi weapons, mostly considering how many explosions there are... So more than likely the majority of these weapons are from the people who were traveling through here and not the attackers. the explosions are also quite spread out so it wasn't a precision strike... The only thing that I can guess is that they've used them as a minefield, but then again why so many and without a clear pattern..." Arashi was definitely weirded out by this. If whoever did this didn't know the best way to use an explosion note, how come they got so many? And if they're not really skilled how come no one saw them?

    Shizuka moved over to Arashi, hopping over a small crater left by what was clearly explosions. When she got to him she kneeled down next to him, listening to his explanation. She was surprised, he was very observant and intuitive. For someone who didn't have a Shinobi background, he was shaping up to be a very good one. He had the battle experience and the smarts to pick up on small details.

    He was right, the explosions weren't focused, they were seemingly random. Over here and some there. At the mention of landmines, Imino froze. She slowly stood up and looked around her. Arashi was very observant, there were no enemy weapons or of shinobi, no tools to have thrown the notes. They had been planted even before people had arrived.

    "If you're right, we can only walk inside the craters..." There was no telling where there were explosion notes hidden. The only way to tell was if they stepped in areas that were already blown up.

    When Arashi mentioned the landmines while talking about what he thought could be happening, he saw Shizuka with a bit of a shock expression, he thought for a second and realized why... If the notes had been set like mines and hidden from plain sight, then how could they be sure there weren't more set in the surroundings. He listened to her, She was right. they had been lucky to not have triggered any more explosions, So he decided to adhere to the plan, he looked around a little "There seem to be some remains which are in better shape over there." He pointed "Let's check to see if they can give us some more information."

    He started heading towards an almost whole cart, which was burnt and had just one broken wheel leaning against the remains. he jumped from one crater to the next, getting closer to it, until he saw that the cart was covered in notes there was also a crate that seemed to be filled with them. immediately after, the wind started to blow stronger, some of the notes started to come looser and that's when the crate erupted upwards with explosion notes, which then started to fly... right towards them!

    Shizuka watched as Arashi hopped from one crater to another. If it wasn't a minefield he would probably be an amazing hopscotch player. She bit her lower lip, her heart rate slightly elevated. She had been in dangerous situations before but they were always threats she could see and calculate for. A minefield? There was no human element she could profile and take into account. Her eyes scanned the surface of the dirt, looking for any areas that looked like it had been dug up. From as far as she could tell? There was none.

    Arashi was arrived by a turned over cart. The wheels missing spokes and well off their axis. The wood charred black from previous burns. There he seemed to inspect a crate of sorts when without a flurry of papers erupted. Hundreds of what appeared to be paper birds rose rapidly up into the sky as they reached an apex turned and began to dive-bomb the two.

    Her blade already drawn Shizuka sent an arc of energy from her blade. The collision caused several of the notes to explode but more were still on their way. Shizuka sent a second Arc, giving Arashi cover and time to run away from them.

    "Oh shit!"Arashi jumped back as the explosion notes started to fly in the air, they formed a spiral and went down in waves, trying to blow Arashi into pieces. He jumped back further and followed Shizuka's example trying to make them explode using two slashes of his weapon ability generating waves of cutting chakra that exploded some of the notes. "What the hell is this!?" Arashi exclaimed, while not necessarily waiting for Shizuka to have an answer, he just felt the need to ask it aloud.

    Arashi ran back towards Shizuka, but the notes were faster, as three of them were about to reach him he jumped to avoid them, but instead of hitting the ground they immediately turned and were now going parallel to the ground, since more notes were coming from behind him Arashi was surrounded. He had to stop on his track or he would collide with the ones now in front of him, as he did this, his eyes widened, the notes started to slowly spin around him... It's like they wanted him to know he had no escape... He thought hastily "I could do that but they need to be closer for it to work... I know!" With two hand-seals he released the Lightning Birds jutsu around him hoping to make some notes explode before they got too close as well as to cover his escape. The notes were spinning in a circle 5 meters around him, and the highest ones were 2 meters high. as soon as he used his Lighting Birds jutsu the notes charged towards him, but the bird wall made them delay enough for him to make 2 other jutsu, his new ones, he released His Lightning Eagle and its tether. So coming out the top of his initial jutsu he rode an eagle made of lightning towards safety as the notes charged against the now empty spiral of lightning.

    Arashi Arrived next to Shizuka still in his eagle he hovered 2 meters above the ground, although quite exhausted, he was still ready to fight... Whatever this was, to the end!

    Shizuka tried to give Arashi cover but she had her own problems. A column of them broke off, spiraling towards her. Were they being controlled? She threw an explosive note of her own setting it off as soon as it was in range with one. It would cause a chain reaction, the trail of tags appearing like a flaming dragon. Arashi appeared above her, sitting on an electric bird of some sort.

    They had a moment to breathe, having reduced their numbers greatly. Shizuka released her ghosts, letting them tell her everything they could sense. Nothing, there wasn't anyone close enough. She shouted out to Arashi.

    " Climb High, see if you can spot anyone! I will cover you."

    Once Arashi began to climb higher, Shizuka would form a series of hand seals, her mouth quickly filling with cold water. When she could hold it in no more a giant spout of water sprout from her mouth. A giant water dragon would erupt chomping, slapping, and twisting its way through any tags around her and chasing after Arashi. Wet they'd fall out of the sky and flop around on the floor.

    "On it!" Arashi answered Shizuka as he started to fly upwards, as he did, a water dragon that Shizuka apparently created was protecting him, getting rid of notes in the way. once he was around 7 meters high, he looked around to see if there was anybody who could be doing this, someone who could be manipulating these explosion notes... but apparently that wasn't the case. Either that or whoever was doing it was also using a stealth or camouflage technique. "I don't see anyone!" He shouted, then he went back down throwing his eagle at some notes that were coming for them, he hoped to get an answer as to what was happening, or maybe some plan to fight off the remaining notes

    Between the two of them, the last of the exploding notes would be dealt with. They were either blown up, cut off and disabled or wet, and unable to move. Once Arashi landed next to her, Shizuka approached one of the wet tags. It desperately tried to flop about, becoming even more violent as Shizuka approached her. They looked different from usual exploding notes, having little wing flaps that allowed them to fly. Shizuka's knowledge of seals was limited and an expert was required to tell them this strange variety of exploding notes. She used her Katana and split the note in half instantly causing it to become nothing more than a piece of wet paper.


    " I can't sense anyone either, around or underground. Are you okay? "

    Arashi seemed exhausted, the rapid use of Jutsu probably the cause behind all this. Shizuka collected a few more samples. It had become apparent to them that these exploding notes were modified and used like homing land mines but as to who and why was still a mystery. Shizuka would spend the next few minutes walking over to disable the last of the exploding notes.

    Out in this heat, the papers were probably going to dry out and being to attack them again. She would also collect a few more samples for the village, making sure not to disturb any other crates. Another volley of these aberrant notes was the last they wanted.

    Something irked her as well, where were the bodies? Did those responsible for these cowardly attacks dispose of them are did the tags destroy even the traces of bodies? Who would plant mines in such a remote area? No one really moved through these lands save for scavengers and the odd explorer. Regardless, their mission was done for now. They would need to send a specialist out to dispose of the rest buried if there was any more.

    " Ready to go home? "

    She would ask her mission partner. For one she was ready to go back home. There were several questions that bugged her and the quicker they got home the quicker she could search for them.

    As the last explosive notes were... Defeated? Destroyed? Something like that. Arashi sighed in relief, Shizuka asked how he was and while it embarrassed him a little, she was technically his superior right now, so he figured it was only natural that she wouldn't want a stain in her reputation by having someone in her charge being harmed or killed. So with that in mind, he just responded with "Yeah I'm ok..." He sighed again "Just a bit tired, but as I said you don't have to worry about me." He smiled a bit weakly.

    When Shizuka went to disable the rest of the notes that were wet and still flopping around, Arashi followed her example and started to do so as well, cutting some of them with his sword. he noticed the way they were moving was almost as if they were alive, this struck Arashi as something really odd. he searched for a while and when he couldn't find anymore he stretched and walked back towards Shizuka, She asked if he was ready to go home to what his only answer would be "Yes!" he said this in a way that suggested he was more than ready to get out of there, he needed some rest and a bit of time away from... well... explosions. after all, he was almost consumed by them at one point and was only able to escape by the skin of his teeth. Although he was a bit puzzled as to what had just happened, he was sure that reporting it and getting some rest would be the best course of action. He drank some water and then they started to travel back to the village, where he could hopefully sleep for a while, and regain his chakra

    they were now getting out of the area where the notes attacked people, he could tell since now they could barely see any explosion marks and after some minutes more of walking there were no more scorch marks nor craters, feeling a bit safer Arashi visibly relaxed, sighing yet again while he stretched his arms a little, he felt the need to yawn he tried to hold it and thankfully he succeded although by little, he looked back at Shizuka who was traveling by his side, even though he was still a bit embarrassed he somehow felt less awkward around her now.
