The white haired boy introduced himself as Shinigai kaguya, which made a lot of sense now that she had thought about it. Obviously she knew who the Kaguya were as they were one of the villages prominent families. He fit the description to a tee, which brought her secret joy as they were known for being fierce and strong warriors. If anything happened tonight she was happy knowing she had a competent shinobi on her side. The plan was to make their way to the last known location of the man and investigate both the crime scene and his home, as they were nearly one in the same. Maya would give a soft nod and then follow the boy in silence, allowing him to take the lead.

It would not take the group long to navigate the dark street, using the lamp and moon light to guide their way towards the victims home. It was a large building able to hold four separate homes, one of which the man had lived in himself. Shinigai would hold the door open for her, letting the woman be the first one to pick which part of the building she wanted to investigate. He wanted to split up it seemed, which was not always the best move, but in this situation would have proved to be smarter than the two sticking together. They could cover more ground this way. With a Nod Maya would point to the bottom set of stairs, and make her way towards the lower section of the building.

Taking a low crouch Maya would move slowly through the halls, trying not to attract anyone’s attention just in case a hostile was there waiting for them. She would approach the left door first checking to see if it was locked. To her surprise it was not, so she instead decided to slowly push it open and peek inside. The room was dark as there was nothing inside to light the room, and the smell of dust would come from the room, it had been abandoned for a while it seemed. Pushing forward Maya would continue to make her way into the room, hoping her partner was doing just as well.

Continuing to inspect this room Maya took her sweet time, moving slowly through the darkness incase anyone, or anything, was lurking in the shadows. She would occasionally move things around like pieces of furniture or objects left behind by those who use to live here. It did not take her long to scour the room eventually reaching the back and realizing nothing was in here. This was not where the murder had happened. Biting her bottom lip Maya cursed under her breath as the woman turned to leave, the silence suddenly broken by a loud voice shouting! It was shouting her name, the words echoing through the empty apartment building. Shivers flew down her spine as the sickening idea settled into her mind, her partner was in trouble.

Quickly pulling out a kunai from within its resting place Maya dashed out of the small apartment, not worrying about staying quiet anymore. It felt like ages but only took her seconds to leave the apartment, scale the stairs and burst through the door of the apartment Shinigai was in. The smell caught her before her eyes could make out what lie before her, a bloody scene of death. Painted over the entirety of the room were different sized A’s drawn in red blood, most of them dry and peeling off by now. Then there stood her white haired partner, holding something in his hands with a shocked and almost frightened look on his face. She gripped the kunai tighter half expecting an enemy to be there in that room. “What is it Shinigai! What happened!?”

It was hard to make out what he was holding but it appeared to be a piece of paper of some kind. He stood there in shock staring at it unable to move or even address her. Was there something horrifying on that object? She took one final scan of the room to cover their backs, not seeing a body of any kind, living or dead, present. So they must have already removed the victim not wanting anyone else to stumble upon it. But why did they leave the scene like this? Was it for further evidence? Or was someone trying to make a statement. For the life of her she could not remember how long the body had been deceased, so was not sure how long the room had been like this, but it was scary to think that someone in their very own village was capable of such horrors.

Still a bit quiet as he could see his partner rush into the apartment. Shinigai still could not move as he would stare into this piece of paper. It had brought fear out of him as he would start to come to his senses and look toward the other ninja. "Um... It's getting pretty late... and i think they took everything but this. Maybe we can get it to the office and let them see if any other prints or evidence is on it..." Shinigai would say as he would seem like he was afraid of the enemy coming out and murdering him. Turning his back on Maya he would walk to the door and down the stairs. His job was done for the night but even he knew that he would have to face this murderer one day. How could you not fear for your life, this young man spent years fearing for his mother's life that he forgot to fear for his own. The longer his hands were on that paper the stronger the fear would grow inside of him. Leaving the area he would head for the Admin building and leave the note in a clear bag in the evidence room. "Farewell Maya... maybe we will meet again." Shinigai would say before leaving for the kaguya compound.
