Tatsuya dragged the VIP behind him as they ran, they couldn't have had much of a lead on their pursuer so they need to find a place to make a stand. Tatsuya spotted what looked like an abandoned old warehouse and thought,

"Yeah, that'll do just fine."

By the time their pursuer arrived the sun would be lowering, casting long shadows through the windows of the old warehouse, and the only sign of the VIP would be a tube of bamboo protruding from the dirt floor.

Tatsuya had, with no small amount of protesting on the VIP's behalf, buried him alive about 5 feet down under the dirt floor of the warehouse. He figured this way there would be no way the pursuer could kill him without going through Tatsuya first. Unless they had Earth Jutsu of course in which case they could kill him immediately but hey, you win some you lose some.

Ami was on a chase, a chase for an important VIP. She wasn't even sure what this man was actually good for that required her to chase him down, but orders were orders. She had found her first clue of this person not having even left Kataki Road. There had been at least two people running and from the looks of things, they were running away from something. She wanted to make sure that the target was really who she was looking for and so she followed, from a safe distance. She would spot a warehouse of sorts, wondering if they would be hiding inside.

The girl walked slowly into the warehouse. The sun was starting to set, casting ominous shadows. Her footsteps echoing through the warehouse, she would scan the area. It was dark, except for the minimal light of the setting sun. She would activate her Byakugan quickly, not wanting to take any chances of sudden ambushes that came her way. "Byakugan..." she muttered, her vision instantly transitioning, robbing her of the colours of the world.

She would not have to try very hard to find Tatsuya. He was standing in the middle of the warehouse, facing the direction Ami came in and seemed to be stretching out his legs against one of the metal support beams that held up the rusty roof.

"Always important to stay limber." He said, compounding the ruse. What he was really doing was using the dispensers in the bottoms of his shoes to place an exploding note on the pillar, on the side that was facing away from the woman. She would see his chakra system as well as that of the VIP that he had buried under the earth. He unsealed his puppet, the cloaked clown Piero, from the seal on his glove and connected his strings to it.

He stood about 15 meters away from Ami, and the warehouse was only about 30 meters long and 20 meters wide, so it would be a close encounter to be sure. The puppet, once it was strung of course, would rapidly fly toward the woman, brandishing a large scythe in both hands. Once it got close to her it would swing wildly, seeming to want to lop the woman's head off.

And Ami wouldn't have to look very far because there, standing about fifteen meters in front of her was who she guessed would be the person she was supposed to be fighting. She could see his chakra movements and sensed that he wasn't all for communication. Which was fine with her, she supposed. The Hyuuga braced herself as she saw him unseal his puppet, and the puppet immediately charging at her with a scythe. Geez...she hadn't expected that. Her hand drifted to the hilt of her blade, unleashing it almost instantly, the sound of metal against the inside of her sheathe clearly audible in the abandoned warehouse.

Ami would run forward, knowing that the puppet was going to try and come at her with a direct attack. She brought herself to close in the distance directly, since she knew that if she could make the first attack it would put her to an advantage. The girl pivoted to her right, as she drew within two meters of the puppet and jumped up, her sword poised for an overhead attack aimed directly at its head,

Tatsuya himself would step back as Ami approached, retreating 5 meters.

Puppets were an interesting subject. Most people didn't really understand how subtle a weapon they could be. For instance, Tatsuya himself had once asked his mentor, Shimano Nara, why they made puppets that were mainly humanoid in shape. Wouldn't it make more sense to make it with a dozen sword arms that shot kunai out of every available orifice? The thing is when someone sees something human-shaped they unconsciously assume that it's going to move as a human does, and when it comes to puppets that simply isn't true. If a human was leaping through the air brandishing a scythe it would be impossible for him to suddenly move backward in mid-air, reversing its course to avoid an attack. But since Tatsuya was the one in control, steering the puppet from behind, he could easily make that correction.

Once Ami was airborne and bearing down with her sword the puppet would pull back through the air, out of the reach of her blade. It would lift its scythe over its head and bring it down like a hammer while Ami followed through with the swing and was falling from her jump. She could attempt to defend herself of course but mid-air post-swing wasn't exactly the most stable position and of course, the spear-like length of the scythe, by design, kept the puppet out of reach from a parry from a more traditional sized weapon like a katana.

It was a miscalculation that came with consequences, Ami thought to herself as her eyes widened a fraction. She didn't know enough about puppets to know that even though they looked human, their functionality was far more fluid and flexible than one. She would learn the hard way that she should have studied the ways of puppets, although in her defense she had never met a puppeteer before for her to see the need to study. Perhaps after this fight the young Hyuuga would spend some time looking into these...creatures..so to speak. That is, if she were to make it out alive.

As she brought her sword down upon the puppet, she saw that it had retracted and moved out of the way, something that humans definitely wouldn't be able to do. She shot a glance at Tatsuya, taking a moment to try and understand the relation of puppet and puppeteer. Ami would then see the puppet's scythe come at her just as she was about to life her blade from her own attack, which had hit the ground instead of hitting her target. She spun out of the way of the attack, to the right, the scythe catching her shoulder slightly. She saw the blood trickle down her arm and smiled, beginning to see just what kind of fight she was getting herself into.

The puppet would pursue, pressing the offensive. It would be immediately obvious to Ami that Tatsuya's finger movements translated into the movements of the puppet. One might think that you could watch Tatsuya's hand in an attempt to preempt what the puppet was going to do but that would be like trying to speak a foreign language solely based on being able to read lips. You might be able to parrot the sounds but you have no idea what you're saying. The "language" of puppetry would be similarly incomprehensible to anyone not trained in it.

The puppet raised its scythe over its head again, seeming to go for another big overhead swing but this time it was a feint. Once it was within striking range the puppet's eyes and mouth would light up, painfully bright like a camera flash, and shine at Ami. This was accompanied by a mechanical laughing sound, high and child-like, that Tatsuya had recently added to the puppet. It didn't do anything but it was creepy. Since she was within 5 meters of the Deadlights this would be sufficient to blind her for the rest of her next post.

Immediately after the flash went off Tatsuya himself would quickly produce a Kunai with an Explosive Note wrapped tightly around the hilt. He would throw it toward Ami and it would *thunk* lightly into the ground, just behind her.

It was very interesting to see how a puppeteer worked, even if she was in the middle of fighting said puppeteer. Ami had never quite gotten the chance to see the mechanics behind the bond between puppet and user, treating this as an opportunity to learn a thing or two. The girl could see that the puppet would aim another swing at her with its scythe. She was already prepared to counter, but would find that it was just a feint. Instead the puppet would produce an awful noise, like from a haunted movie of sorts and subsequently its eyes and mouth would light up, instantly blinding the woman. Even with her Byakugan she would not be able to see.

The girl was rendered slightly useless having been robbed of sight. She would fumble into her weapon pouch and grab the first thing she could touch, which were two shuriken and thrown it in the direction of where the puppet would have been before it had shone its light on her. She also heard a noise coming from behind, her other senses picking up as her main one was disabled. On pure reflex she would run to her left, still completely blinded by the deadlight .

Ami's shuriken flew true in spite of her blindness! The shuriken would strike Piero's cloak right where its chest would be... and then flew right out the other side. Because Piero did not have a chest, or legs, or anything else besides the head and arms that you could already see. The cloak was just a ruse to make people assume there was more there than there really was.

The puppet would fly straight up into the air, out of the range of the tag, before Tatsuya detonated it on the retreating Ami. It wasn't touching her so it would not be fatal but she was still within the 5-meter range of the blast. Whether she kept her feet or was thrown by the explosion Tatsuya would produce another explosive-wrapped kunai and throw it at her again, aiming this one to detonate immediately once it hit the ground near her.

Still blinded, she really wouldn't have much time to think about the sensory loss as she heard and felt an explosion. What she had thought would have been enough to dodge the attack had not, since she didn't quite move out of the range of the attack as she had hoped. The girl would be caught in the explosion and although not fatal, it had shook her, throwing her balance off as she crashed to the ground. She had to think quick, knowing that until she could get her vision back her kekkei gekkai was useless. The girl thought for a moment and decided that because her vision was impaired, she would not make it easy for Tatsuya either.

The girl quickly formed the handseals to one of her favourite techniques, which robbed almost everyone of their vision to a thick mist, except hers if she activated the Byakugan. She hoped that this would buy her some time until she got her sight back and be able to deter any attacks to her while she couldn't see. Although not entirely sure if that would work, it was her only defense.

Tatsuya had already aimed to throw the second explosive once the first one had gone off. As he said he'd watch and see Ami be thrown by the first blast and, once she landed, he'd have thrown the second exploding note and kunai at her. This time intended to detonate it immediately. All the encroaching mist would do would hide how badly Ami was hurt by the blast. Tatsuya reeled his puppet back in till it was beside him, just to be safe, and would wait for the mist to clear. He hoped that since she had already been struck one (consuming her first attack prevention) that the second blast would be enough to render her unable to continue the fight. Let no one say he left things to chance, however. Even as the mist rolled in Tatsuya would produce yet another kunai and exploding note, throw it through the mist at roughly the same spot he had thrown the last one and would detonate that one on impact as well.

Her vision would clear, although to be fogged up by her own mist. She hadn't seen the second kunai and explosive tag, but her instinct had told her that he wasn't done with his little weapons when the first one had been thrown. She didn't have much time to react, only managing to roll her body out of the centre of the explosive tag. Ami would still be caught by it though, for being in the five meter range. This time the explosive tag had more than just shaken her, her body feeling the scorches and the remnants of the explosion. It took her a few moments to recover, her breathing faster as she stood up once more. She was not ready to give up just yet.

The activation of her Byakugan was needed she knew, to see Tatsuya's chakra system. As her vision changed, she would dash forward, heading to the direction of the chakra system she could see. Although still dazed by the explosion before, by the time she reached within attacking range of the man she was already able to regain most of her focus. She would quickly form handseals when she was within three meters of him and send a wind slash aimed directly at his left shoulder. She would have two more strikes on reserve, just in case..

Tatsuya would take a few steps back and listen. He couldn't see Ami through the mist but he didn't have to for what he had in mind. As he heard her footsteps approaching he would detonate his explosive note, the one he had surreptitiously placed at the beginning of the fight. He couldn't judge exactly where she was but he was confident she was within 5 meters of it. The blast would hopefully disorient and further damage her, but again that was not the full breadth of the plan. The explosive had been placed directly on one of the rusty metal beams supporting the roof overhead. When the tag went off the beam would snap and with an ear-wrenching screech, the entirety of the roof would give way and begin to collapse.

There was nowhere for Ami to run to avoid this. Her wind blade would catch Tatsuya across the shoulder and sent him stumbling to one side. His flak jacket had been able to take the hit for him but if he didn't move he'd be as crushed as Ami. He threw himself to the ground and used his Shadow Swimming Technique to dive into one of the shadows that had been cast by the warehouse's windows. Nothing could follow him into the shadow realm so he would be safe there from the collapse. This was his last trick, so hopefully, it had taken care of the Hyuuga.

Even as her wind jutsu had connected with his shoulder like she had intended it to, she had a sinking feeling in her heart. She had heard the explosion before she felt it, the explosive tag signalling the end of the fight. She was a little annoyed, more so at herself than at Tatsuya. She prided herself in being a fighter and as a Hyuugan she wasn't one to give up. But as the explosive went off and the roof of the warehouse came crashing down, she had no chance to escape. In a desperate attempt she would dash to the nearest window, hoping to be able to get out before the entire roof would come crashing down on her. She had lost this fight...but if she could make it out alive there would be plenty more in the future.
