    Mission Details:

There were many things that Gen had been expected to do in his time as a Shinobi; from exciting assassinations to boring protection details. But, during all of that time, he never thought that he would get chosen for a mission to infiltrate a group of people to find out something about them, he wasnt exactly clandestine material given his size....

When he thought about information gathering missions like this, he thought about the things you read about in training manuals or were told about by older ninja. Things like infiltrating in disguise and seducing your targets to get to the information needed at hand, slipping out of sight, and upstairs somewhere. No doubt where he would find the object he needed or some type of safe mechanism that needed to be opened, using some type of technique that Gen was unaware of. Of course, Gen hadn't been granted with that type of mission yet, he was instead to do as he had before and investigate a wilderness area to do that which he needed and leave.

Gen had been given a job to infiltrate a group of people; a group of traveling bandits that were moving across the land and working for some type of bandit lord that was trying to make a name for himself, Josuke Hotaru a rampant beast of a man who used a zanbato one handed. Gen wasn't really worried about the details as he had a real negative mindset when it came to bandits. All he knew was that his job had been to get to know the group and travel with them for a little bit.

The group was only about eight people before he had joined up with them, posing as a muscle man that loved to brawl. Despite Gen being one of the best Shinobi in the Sun Village, there was no denying that the man looked like more of a statue of a man then a proper Shinobi. All it took was wearing a loincloth and nothing else to pass off as a reasonable ally, as well as defeating their strongest men in one on one combat, a hand behind his back as he did so. Gen's tanned skin and overly muscular form made him look like the a fearsome wall of flesh as they began to travel across the land, starting to follow his lead as time went on! It didn't take too long before they were killing less men on the roads and instead just robbing rich wagons, soon giving them to the poor, and taking care of tasks for small villages as they went, places forgotten by society as a whole.

After a week of traveling together, the group had decided that Gen was truly one of them and he couldn't help but feel that they were doing some good things, even with the bad. They only attacked those that abused other, Josuke was a noble bandit after all. Despite knowing he was going to have to turn these men and women in, he was truly enjoying the time that he had with them right now. He could return to his village with this information... but then they would be punished for being more like vigilantes then villians, this didnt neccessarily sit will with him.

So, when the morning had finally come around, he would move with the bandits towards the village of the Sun! The man was shocked to find themselves traveling in this direction but there were plenty of bases that were located in the deserts and surrounding regions, so he chastised himself for his surprise. After hours of traveling, the group would have eventually come to the Infinite Canyons that were surrounding the village and Gen would follow while chatting casually with the others in his group, some of them were truly good people and believed they were doing the right thing.

The group would traverse down the side of a mountain with ease and eventually into a cave. It had been a tight squeeze for some parts of it but eventually they would come to a carved out portion of cavern, which was large and extremely well lit. A man sat in a large chair in the distance, he was tall and well built much like Gen himself except leaning more towards Sojiros build. He looked just how Gen thought he would, as he was going over intercepted messages and routes to determine who was next on their list. It seemed like quite a lot of letters were gathered around him, thank yous and well wishes from those his group had helped. Gen wanted to leave now that he knew what he wanted to do, he would tell the village that Josuke got away, as he couldn't punish someone so

Gen would leave in the morning before the others awoke, leaving his loot share with them and a note, stating the villages were closer to them then they thought, that they needed to be more careful if they were to keep up the good fight. Making the long trek back home was arduous and long as he was conflicted and realized he had just ignored his duty. In the end though, this was the best option for his own psyche and morals.

Once he got to town, he spent a long time in the HQ talking with the mission proctors about everything he had experienced with that bandit group, and the good they actually did. He then explained to them about his confrontation with Josuke and losing him and the bandit group in a chase through collapsing caverns, create a fictitious narrative about the bandit lord.

He hated lying but he couldn't have harmed such a great man. This was to be his one and only falsity he would commit in a mission for the rest of his life, but he knew that it was the right choice in the end. How could someone who saw himself as the shield of the people, harm another that shared his same beliefs, but went about it the wrong way? That was a level of hypocrisy he would never be apart of.
