Delivering a Package Empty Delivering a Package

Post by Guest Fri Jun 19, 2020 5:44 pm

The two would finally arrive in the Moon village. They would wait in line as various people were let in and out. At the gate, she showed them the official mission, a package to be delivered to them. When they were let through, Shizuka would walk in. It had been her first time she had been there and she took everything in. Where the bars were, where the roads led to.

"Well, this is the Moon Village, when you arrive somewhere try to remember two things. A big landmark you can see from most places and then the exit points from there."

These were the things Shizuka always looked out for. To the point it became an unconscious habit. She would want the new genin to know it to. Together they'd deliver the package and be done with the mission.

"How about a little sight seeing before we go back home?"

Kokoro and Shizuka would near the Moon Village. She noticed almost immediately how different the place was compared to the Sun. It looked so much better, not particularly entertained by the fact that her own village was just a desert. She would keep this to herself though, as technically she should be happy that she was adopted into a village to begin with. She nodded her head at Shizuka's advice of taking into account notable landmarks and exits since she was absentminded of those things. Another reason to respect and look up to this woman, she thought.

"Um...by the way...what's your name? I don't think I caught it..." she would say, hoping that she wouldn't offend the girl. She had meant to ask earlier but was too mesmerized at everything that was happening even though to Shizuka it was probably not that much. She would nod her head enthusiastically at the mention of sightseeing, a little bit like a child would at the mention of candy. She had never come to the village and really wanted to look around, glad that Shizuka was also down for the idea.

    "Most call me Imino, Sakura-chan."

They'd stop by a confections stand. It was painted in various watercolors, patterns swirling like their many rivers and streams. What she wanted right now was shaved ice. Just a little condensed milk, red bean pastes, chunks of mango, and strawberries. She received the cup, taking a bite out of it.

"Pick whatever you want as much as you want."

Shizuka would treat the fellow genin. Handing over a few coins of Ryo for a delicious and cold refreshing treat. She would look away for the stand, letting Kokoro have the privacy of picking out what she wanted. Prying eyes often created unattended pressure and that was the last thing she wanted.

When they were ready they'd begin to walk around the moon to sight see.

"Nice to meet you, Imino...-san." she had to stop to think of the proper honorific for the girl beside her. She didn't want to be impolite or come off as too polite, so she stuck with the basic.

And then they would arrive at the confections stand, the bright colours and the variety of food enough to make Kokoro excited and happy, her eyes lighting up. She loved food, and enjoyed eating snacks. She sometimes wondered if she was actually the age that she was because she simply couldn't resist when it came to eating. She was a little surprised that Shizuka offered to pay for her, and felt a little bad. "A-are you sure?" although her eyes were already glancing over the items in the store. She would pick out some dango and asked for a cup of green tea ice cream. She could eat the entire store it seemed but she was also aware that Shizuka was paying and didn't want to go overboard.

"Thank you!" she said with an even wider grin as she took a bite of ice cream. The look of satisfaction and pure happiness would cross her face as she ate. She would look up and down the street, wondering where they would go next. Although not really interested in buildings for sightseeing spots, if her partner wanted to go she would go along. "Where should we go next?"

    Rank: B-Rank
    Participants: Moon Village, Sun Village
    Type: Group Mission
    Reward: 45 EXP, 20 Ryo
Location: From one village to another
Details: A villager, local merchant or business man is in need of company on the road while heading to the next village. While they do not believe any danger is involved, the world is full of wild animals and bandits, and would feel safer if a couple of shinobi tagged along. The mission is simple, escort the client to the other village safely.
Requirements: Each person must make at least four posts, totaling to 1600 WC.

There was a multitude of things the pair of them could do. For one, Shizuka wanted to go swim in the lakes more than anything. Spending her whole life around sands the best you could find were oases and the occasional ocean side beaches. Sure they were great but oases tended to be shallow and most frowned upon swimming as drinking water was precious. Oceans on the hand were either rough, infested with sharks, or just too salty. Crystal clear and deep waters really sounded lovely to her. Floating on a tube, getting some sun that wasn't hot enough to turn you into a human sausage.

Imino took a bite out of her shaved ice, feeling the sweet crunch. The thin slivers of ice quickly turning into an ice-cold beverage on her tongue. Maybe in her older years, Shizuka would retire and open up a refreshment stand. Serving ice-cold beverages and hearing the gossip of the town. For a change, the rumors and gossip would come to her. Then again, she wondered if she would even live that long. The two spirits inside her suggested it was unlikely. One had died in his late 40's and the other in her early 30's.

Shizuka mentally batted away the doubts her inner rentees sowed. Instead, her eyes searched for something. Somewhere that rented out boats, perhaps the two of them could slowly sail down the rivers and cool off before heading home. She had opened her mouth, moments away from pointing at a store when someone interrupted.

"Yurei-sama? Yurei-sama of the Sun?" A small child around Kokoro's age came running down. He stopped panting, his chest heaving. When he caught his breath he handed over to Imino a scroll. Most would caution themselves reading scrolls from another village, especially so far from home but any traps and deceptions Shizuka was practically impervious to. Shizuka handed her desert over to Kokoro, prompting her to finish it. At that age, you were either hungry or starving.

"There is a merchant here who wishes to be escorted to the Sun. The village thought sending him back with you two would be easier." The boy meant Imino and Kokoro. He blushed looking away from the younger girl. Shizuka looked at the two of them, they'd make a cute couple but... She could do way better. Her eyes read the scroll. Reading its contents confirmed her mission and legitimacy of the request.

"It looks like we have to go home now Sakura-chan. At least we will get paid for it. Please ask the client to meet us at the gate. Scorpion Sake will be the meeting word." Shizuka would then begin to walk to the village gates.

Kokoro would still be enjoying her own desserts when she noticed that a young man would approach them. Judging from his looks and build, she guessed that they were almost the same age, if not the same. The girl looked at him quizzically, watching as he handed Shizuka a scroll. Kokoro took the half-finished dessert from the other woman, her attention captured by the scroll that she only just held it in her hands. She would never finish eating someone's food, as she considered that to be quite rude, unless she was told specifically to do so. And so there she was, with a strawberry in her mouth and a cup of half-eaten shaved ice melting under the heat in her hands.

Her expression changed as she listened to what Shizuka had to say. They were going to escort some merchant to the Sun village? She enjoyed the woman's company and would love to do another mission. It was better than just walking back to the village with nothing to do, although it meant that their sightseeing adventures would have to come to an end. The girl smiled and nodded her head, still holding the food as they made their way back to the village gates. Kokoro was intrigued to not just who this merchant was, and how the messenger knew of Shizuka. Was she a popular name even in the Moon Village? It wouldn't surprise her, but still.

"It's nice to keep busy." she would say as they headed to the gates. She had planned to stay a little longer, to sight see a bit more since it was her first time out of the Sun. It was her first time doing an escort mission and she was glad to have someone who clearly knew what she was doing to be her partner. By now Shizuka's shaved ice would all have turned into liquid as she finished her own fruits, happy to have eaten something. She wondered if she could move the vendor from the Moon to the Sun, entertaining the idea of having a vendor that sold snacks like those. In her mind she was thinking of maybe one day bribing the guy, or blackmailing...

It wasn't that Shizuka was famous, the package was to be delivered by Shizuka and most likely it had her name in it. One couldn't simply walk into a Shinobi village and knock on their door. 'Oh hai, a circular bread with processed dairy and fruit puree'. Shizuka looked at Kokoro, she thought about letting her have fun alone at the moon but leaving her behind was probably not the best idea.

Together they'd go to the village gates.
