Sojiro had been woken up by his father, having been told that there was a letter from the village for him, most likely a mission. He wasn't really surprised, he had been back home for about a week now and he hadn't gotten another mission yet, so it was good to be able to go out and stretch his legs. Before leaving his home, he would read over the details of the mission he had been assigned and nod his head in approval. It was a simple enough mission, he was to go to one of the local bakeries and gathered a food drop supply for a group of Shinobi that was stationed out in the middle of the desert. It was an easy enough thing to have to do, so he didn't see a reason to really bring out the full force of his arsenal. Instead, as he prepared to leave, the man would with only a pair of pants, his Flak Jacket, and his bandana tied around his forehead.
He was wrong about the kind of day that he was going to have, "If only I knew..." He mumbled to himself as he dove through the air and narrowly avoiding an attack, the sound of something whizzing through the air close behind him. Sojiro thought back to the rest of his day...
The man had arrived at the building relatively early, about an hour or two before noon and much sooner than the bakery was actually supposed to open. When he knocked on the back door of the building, he was greeted by a very kind, old lady. Her skin was a dark brown and she wore a warm smile, gesturing to the inside so that she could give the goods to Sojiro. Instead, what followed what the old woman keeping Sojiro hostage for nearly two hours while explaining how she wasn't able to make the goods for her supply drop; she had run out of ingrediants! She was crying and bawling, unsure of what to do or how she was going to fix this. There was no way the shipment of ingrediants was going to make it to her in time!
Sojiro hit the ground in a tumble and would skid on a knee while spinning around, eventually moving to his feet and staring at a giant scorpion that had been chasing him. His brows furrowed together as he looked around, there were two more that were coming directly for him and he grunted. Summoning chakra into his right hand, he would bend his knees and prepare to launch himself at the closest enemy, "I knew I should've told that lady to shove it..."
Scorpion Poison Stingers! The woman had told Sojiro AFTER he had been guilted in helping the old woman with her ingredient gathering. He was sure that the old woman was joking around with him... Right? Nope! It was a specialty that she had made, turning the poisonous objects into delicious food that was a local delicacy in the poorer parts of town. Sojiro wasn't sure this wasn't some trick by a senile old lady but there was nothing he could do but go hunting. So, with a reluctant grunt, he would head out into the desert...
Sojiro's body would jump into the air and carry him through the air, spinning rapidly as he activated his Tunneling Fang. The move would allow him to strike one of the scorpions, hitting it an angle so that it came upwards and would flip up onto it's back. Another scorpion came from his left, stinger coming out to try and drive into Sojiro's side but he barely dodged it, the tip of it tearing the side of his Flak Jacket with ease. But he pivoted on his foot almost like a dancer in the sand, whirling his right hand down so that it would meet squarely with the face of the scorpion. He released his Cherry Blossom Impact, causing the chiton on the creature to break and green liquid to come out. As the final scorpion came, not from behind, Sojiro would jump forward as he had done before, drawing forth his Windmill Shuriken and turning while he was in the air. It unfolded and he threw it with all his might, the weapon flying forward and one of the four sharp blades of the weapon dug into it's face to the circle in the center of the weapon. With a grunt, he wouldn't even try to land gracefully, tumbling into and across the sand with a heavy sigh. A few minutes later, he would stand up and remove the stingers from all three creatures and grab his weapon, heading back to town.
It was about five in the evening when he finally made it to the bakery again, the old woman was more than excited to see Sojiro, taking the stingers from him and saying is should only be about an hour or two. It was two because of course, it was, but eventually, he was sent on his way with the packages for delivery. Ms. Ruby Nash had also given Sojiro some of her Scorpion Casserole for him to keep and try himself, which he would after all the hard work he went through!
It was nearly nine at night when Sojiro arrived at the meeting place, finding three men hiding near a boulder with a dugout hole. It was easy to miss if you didn't know what you were looking for. The men tried to give Sojiro shit for taking as long as he did but the man simply grunted in response and threw the food at them, slowly rubbing his brows as he would walk away from them. "Today fucking sucked..."
