Appearance:

Like many of his clan members, Shirou is built like a lean mean fighting machine, all muscle and ready to strike at a moment’s notice like a cruel viper. Tall, at six two, Shirou makes a foreboding figure within the general populace with his muscled features. Shirou's black hair is commonly slicked back from his face with one long strand falling down into his face between his eyes, or left down to frame his face. He wears a dark green shirt with black designs on it and black combat pants, or other dark black clothes. On his feet he has simple black boots, and on his arms bracers, and a leather belt around his waist. Shirou has black eyes which change in appearance depending on the emotions he feels - typically, when he is serious or angry they are slit and reminiscent of a cat.

"That's the problem: he's a brilliant lunatic, and you can never tell which way he'll jump, like his game is impossible to analyze. You can't dissect him, predict him...which of course means he's not a lunatic at all."

A voracious huger manifested into human form; Shirou is best classified as a monster in human skin. He is an unstoppable force, a murderous apparition unleashed upon the world that serves no one but his own desires, whatever they may be at the moment. Shirou operates purely on instinct most of the time time, giving into his baser desires. At any given moment, Shirou is given to turn himself over to his urges, unleashing a terrifying beast upon the world; one that knows no limitations of kindness and compassion for his fellow man.

Those who attempt to look beyond this will find that Shirou is a strangely complex creature. He seems to believe that all of life is a grand arena, and only those worthy of the hunt are allowed to live. Shirou himself seeks to prove himself as an apex predator, worthy of hunting the greatest prey of all, Mankind. Everyday is a new chase, a new chance to cause pain to the populace.

Shirou has a rather laid-back personality and uses slang; such as using yer instead of your, you're, or you. He is also noted to be rather blunt, speaking freely about sensitive topics, as well as not being hesitant in pointing out others' flaws. Even with his superiors, He is not afraid to challenge them, which on a few occasions resulted in a physical conflict. He often slacks off, and would rather drink and let others do work. Nevertheless, He is a very competent shinobi and, when needed, Shirou can be serious and focused in the way only a lethal and deadly predator can be. When it comes to his actually doing his job, Somie acts like the best evolved predator around: focused, deadly, and with the ability and willingness to remove all obstacles that stand in his way of his target. He doesn't allow people to get under his skin, and He doesn't allow anger nor other volatile emotions to cloud his judgement. He is capable of keeping himself composed even under the most dire and trying of circumstances. Some would even venture to say that He can even come across as rather detached; keeping herself separate from a situation emotionally and yet there all at the same time, ensuring that it can be handled with the utmost care and ability.

History:

Shirou's life was an unfortunate one. He was raised by his cousins, rather than his mother and father. His mother was a jounin, Malkavia Hitomi, known for her unusual kenjutsu style consisting of using six swords simultaneously. His father was never known; his mother was a rape victim that ended with the child's conception. Rather than abort the child, Malkavia Hitomi decided to have the child, coming to the conclusion that the circumstances that created him was not his fault. Since her decision to keep the child, Hitomi's life was well; she took a leave from her duties until the child was born.

The day that Shirou was born began like any other day. The sun rose, the birds chirped. Everything was peaceful until the labor pains began for Hitomi. For several long hours, the young mother-to-be lay in pain as she was attended by her cousins and the clan midwife, all attempting to comfort her as she strove to deliver the child into the world. As Hitomi gave birth to the child, she paid the ultimate price; As her child was born into the world, Hitomi looked upon him once and smiled. She then whispered his name, closed her eyes, and passed on. With Hitomi's death, the entire clan decided to raise Shirou collectively. They believe it would help him get over the shock of his mother's death once he got older.

Shirou grew to call his clansmen and women Father and Mother respectively; the children became known to him as brothers and sisters. He was never excluded from activities; the children always remembered to invite him to participate in family events. Shirou grew up as a quiet child, rarely speaking unless spoken to. He was raised to remain calm in the face of all opposition, no matter the threat. While some people often mistake this for cockiness, Shirou quietly replies that fear has no place in his life; and hesitation will only get one killed. To him, one cannot hesitate when protecting life. As by his clan's nature and practices, Shirou is a pacifist, and believes that life must be protected.

Shirou entered the ninja academy when he was eight, much to the shock of his elders. His elders had generally assumed that the child had no interest in the ways of a ninja. He'd never paid much attention to the elders of his clan whom were Shinobi; he complained quietly that they smelled like blood. When questioned as to why he decided to become a ninja, he simply replied that he wished to protect those whom he cared about. In his mind, he believed to do this, he would need to be stronger; and the path of a ninja was the best way to do this.

In the Academy, Shirou was an average student in terms of his studies; never less than a C in his subjects. His special talent emerged one day during weapons training class. It was here that he discovered his love for swords. He could wield a single blade with enough proficiency to disarm a chuunin. He found that he preferred using the heavier swords the academy had to offer; the 'oversized' weapons,: Claymores, the larger and longer katanas...

Upon hearing this, several members of his clan began to murmur and snicker, citing that Hitomi's blood was stirring in her son. Shirou shrugged off the comments, and began to focus himself into his training. The boy quickly learned to supplement his growing Kenjutsu skills with Ninjutsu in order to achieve various effects. The boy's prowess with Kenjutsu grew to the point that he literally fought his way to the top of his swordsmanship classes. As a present for becoming a Genin, his family presented Shirou with a old sword, one that would allow him to be able to use his kenjutsu skills.

For the duration of his Genin career, Shirou's life was uneventful. He completed missions assigned to him, some of high difficulty, others, not so much. He learned to refine his skills, and spent his time developing jutsu that would supplement his specialties. Shirou would continue to use the sword he was given, taking very good care of it. It was a normal sized katana, complete with sheath. However, the blade was very old, and beginning to rust in several places.
