    Post by Kannagi Tue Jun 16, 2020 6:54 pm

    Mission Info:

    Kannagi had made the long trek out to he plains without her horse. She missed the company of the gray mare, but Cirilla needed rest and food on this particularly warm day. It wasn't actually too hot for her own comfort, but it was dryer than the desert dust and the grass crackled around her feet and legs as she walked, splintering and chittering like scraping glass. There was a large tree not far off from the road where she could sit and await the arrival of her team. Kannagi touched her cheek and waited with a frown. She could feel her cheek splitting up to her eyebrow and over her nose, the air so dry that not even her skin could contain the paper today. It was an embarrassing look but the otherwise lovely blue haired woman didn't care: this was a mission.

    A group of large hyenas were spotted in the plains, attacking travelers and causing problems along the roads. A group of hyenas in the starving dry heat made spontaneous fires a risk, so a group was needed to dispatch the beasts while remaining ever cautious that a jutsu or change in weather could light the very ground they walked on ablaze for miles. Kannagi waited underneath the stubby tree, its three curving branches made it look skinny and humanoid at the same time. Beside the road, it was as good a landmark as any in the plains.

    {Enter the Dry Lands}

    The young Hyuuga could feel the dryness of the desert hit her as she came off from Kataki Road, noticing immediately how it differed from the moist air of her own village. She had always wondered how people in the Sun Village could live in such conditions. If it were her, she would have died from just the heat itself, let alone the dryness that came along with it. Ami tread carefully through the sandy desert, making her way carefully, all the while lamenting to herself about how sand was probably one of her biggest pet peeves. She didn't enjoy wet sand especially, and having the particles clinging to shoes and clothes was just beyond her. The girl struggled to the gate, where one of the patrol guards looked at her quizzically. She hadn't been remembered, she mused, pulling out the mission scroll for him to see. He nodded his head and pointed her to the north.

    "Do you know who will be joining?"
    she would ask, receiving only a very vague answer of a blue haired kunoichi. Well at least she had something to go on, she thought, as she thanked the guard. She would go do some searching, hoping that her partner or partners would not be waiting too long for her. Ami had a very bad habit of getting lost, having only recently remembered the way to the Sun Village after hundreds of visits. And even then she would have to double confirm...her anxieties playing on her nerves, he guessed. The girl would make her way north to the plains, noticing how there were few people there as she drew close. That made finding the blue haired girl easier. She guessed from the scenery that this place was a tourist spot more than a leisurely getaway for locals. How different this felt from her own village...

    The girl would scan her lavender eyes until it rested on a single stubby tree. It stood out like a nail and seemed like the perfect place to wait for people. She quickly walked towards it, carefully brushing the hair out of her place. She hadn't exactly checked how she looked since arriving here, having spent some time on the road. But that probably didn't matter. What mattered was the mission. She spotted a girl there, and guessed that she was one of the people she was looking for. "Hyuuga Ami, from Gekkousato. Nice to meet you." she would extend a hand to her, while studying the girl closely. She was probably only a few years older than Ami, tall and slender but quite muscular. She also took note of her bright blue hair. The Hyuuga loved meeting people with exotic hair colours like herself.

    Post by Faustein Uchiha Tue Jun 16, 2020 10:48 pm

    Faustein had been busy with his mad science research as of late and so had not seen any real missions in the past few weeks. However, when he returned home for the day from his research lab, he saw the usual Sun Village ninja falcon flying high overhead.

    Well this is certainly a surprise, but perhaps a change of pace IS what is required here.

    With that thought in mind, he entered his house, quickly readied himself by gathering all his usual ninja gear and then headed out to the Kage's Office which was where the mission directive would be given to him. Upon reaching there, as per usual, he found the lady at the counter waiting with the mission scroll ready. So, he headed over, took the scroll and registered himself as the taker after which he pocketed it and nodding to the woman, he exited the Kage's Office. Then, he started to make his way out of the village and across the arid desert region which surrounded the village. It took him a while to reach there, but eventually he did just that and upon arrival, his keen jet black eyes spotted a rather unusual looking tree standing like a lone sentinel in the distance with what seemed like two women standing under it or near it. One of them he could recognize as being a fellow Sun Village kunoichi and the other seemed to be a foreign kunoichi from the ninja village of the neighboring land, this being Moon Village.

    This seems as though it will be quite entertaining indeed.

    Faustein mused thus silently while increasing the speed of his stride a bit more so that he could reach the tree and meet his mission partners. It did not take him very long since he was quite near to the locale by now and after arrival, he greeted them both, revealing his voice to be a rich baritone one which was somehow hypnotically melodious as well.

    "Greetings, so are you both are my mission partners, perchance? Faustein of Nikkousato, reporting for duty."

    He asked them and then fell silent, but kept a polite smile on his thin, firm lips while he waited for their reactions. While he waited, a brief sand-laden gust blew by the vicinity, causing the shock of whitish-green hair on his head to wave about lazily and caused the tail end of his stereotypical medical ninja's white coat to flutter about briefly. His dark colored ninja pants and ninja shoes were both coated with a smattering of sand particles, so he wiggled his legs and feet slightly in an attempt to shake off the sand grains sticking to his clothing. As he waited for them to respond, he rested his surgical glove covered hands in the pockets of his ninja pants and looked about the area, letting his jet black eyes roam about lazily across the terrain and the other features of the surrounding area.

    A green haired woman came towards her, the locks bouncing like effervescent herbage on a windy hillside. "Nice to make your acquaintance, Ami," Kannagi answered with the tone of a confident teacher instead of the tone of a typical nineteen year old girl. A young man with light hair culminating in green streaks made his way to the women and introduced himself as Faustein moments after. "Faustein, a pleasure. It would seem Nikkousato would like to bring bonds of the Moon and Sun closer on this mission together, may be good team." Kannagi wore what she had always worn: black shorts, a sleeveless neck high top with crossing belts to hold up her medical bag and nin pouch behind her, and lastly she wore a long flowing white skirt which Kannagi had kept tied up in the front by her hips in a high low fashion. It was good attire for a shinobi in the desert and the woman had spent most of her life as a nomad in these dry places of the Sun.

    As she turned to head deeper into the plains, the plants reaching waist high, Kannagi suddenly stopped with a chuckle. She looked over her shoulder and then faced the others again, pointing to the forehead protector upon her waist. "My apologies, I nearly forgot. I am Kannagi, also of Nikkousato. Ami, Faustein, shall we hunt these beasts?" And with whatever answer they gave, because of course nobody had ever refused the polite but controlling blue haired woman, Kannagi strut off. After nearly half an hour walking, the sky was orange and purple with the setting of the sun. It was the perfect time for the hunt of such savage predatory creatures. The hyenas were said to appear fast, ambush style. She kept her blue eyes open.

    Before the blue haired girl would give her reply though, she saw another person approaching them. He had an interesting hair color as well, with dark green streaks which contrasted quite well with his light coloured hair. Ami needed to stop with her obsession with hair, she thought to herself as she quickly turned her attention to what the man was actually saying. "Nice to meet you, Faustein." she would greet him warmly and give him a smile. She would team up with two new people today, which made her really happy. She remembered her own team back in Gekkousato for a moment, the smile slightly faltering, but only to return a moment later when Kannagi stood up. She nodded her head about the Sun and Moon wanting to strengthen bonds by doing inter-village missions. As Ami was not a fan of war, she was glad that there was peace between the two villages.

    The trio would start on their mission, and from what Ami could observe, Kannagi was collected, polite but commanding in the tone that she gave them. Of course the Hyuuga didn't mind, seeing as she viewed herself as the 'guest' on the mission. The young girl would follow the others, looking for the hyenas that were terrorizing the tourists. She noticed the beautiful skies, something of a violet and orange in colour. It was very different from the skies of Gekkousato. For a moment she would again be lost in thought before turning her attention back to the other two. She needed to keep her mind focused, for the sake of the hyenas.

    Both of the women had greeted him back with the first expressing a wish for more closeness in intervillage relations between Sun and Moon and the second doing a more generic greeting. In response, Faustein had nodded to both while remarking with a

    "Likewise."

    Then, the topic of conversation moved to the hyenas, after which Faustein saw the blue haired woman calling herself Kannagi starting walking toward the location of the mission after having urged both him and the green haired woman known as Ami to follow in a polite, yet firm tone of a leader. Usually, Faustein would have bristled at being ordered around, but in this case, atleast the person had the decorum to be polite, so he dis not mind as much.

    "Understood."

    Faustein had said simply and then fell silent as he started moving in step with his two mission partners, Ami and Kannagi. As they moved, the sheathed katana he had slung across his back underneath his long, physician-scientist's/ medical ninja's white coat clinked softly against his broad back while the medical pouch and ninja gear pouch attached to the tactical utility belt which held his ninja pants in place shook intermittently due to his free running style. As he ran, he made sure to keep all of his keen senses on red alert status since apparently the hyenas were known to ambush their victims whenever the opportunity presented itself. Only time would tell if he would come back alive from this mission, but nevertheless, the mad physician-scientist part of him was rather enthused at the prospect pf acquiring these hyenas, either alive or dead, as guinea pigs for his ongoing, ever-burgeoning research.

    It felt good that these two didn't question the authority that Kannagi did not rightly possess. It was much nicer than the usual team members she had been paired up with. Although inexperienced at worst, they seemed happy to take part on this mission with her as a leader. The blue haired kunoichi walked on and then suddenly stopped amidst the grass. Shadows began to bear down on them as thick clouds started to blanket the sky. The change in temperature cause a quick alteration in weather, replacing the clear orange sky with various blots of cloud. She lifted her right hand to stop the others and whispered, "Do you hear anything? Either of you?" As she turned around, her eyes squinting out at the grass as far as her eyes could see, she noted the motions among the dry plants. She glanced about and counted all the strange motions, the way she had been taught to. In a forest, Kannagi might have been worse than useless, but out here, she had lived with the creatures of the desert and plains and knew their antics.

    "Six of them, encircling us. Be ready to attack, backs together. Don't let them pass,"
    She ordered, "I'm trusting you all with my life." And Kannagi was. As she moved her body to the side, preparing her hands for a jutsu, two hyenas burst simultaneously for her. Kannagi rose both her hands up and flashed through her hand seals. Three blades made of wind came to her and she sliced her arms through the air to give them direction. Two cut through the hyena on her right, making a bloody 'x' over the creature's torso. It fell down in fits of barking and sniveling before going quiet. The third wind strike was aimed at the neck of the second beast. It slashed deeply, opening a gash along where a human's collarbone and throat might be, if it were human instead of animal. It limped backwards with a howl, unable to make any other sounds now. It started to ran woozily off through the grass but when the grass stopped swaying in the distance, she knew it too had died. Entrusting the others to handle their own hyenas, and hoping they hadn't needed her assistance while she was busy, Kannagi turned to see how they fared.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The Hyuuga had instinctively felt the presence of the creatures before she had seen them. Of course she was not used to these deserts. Her training involved the Hyuuga compounds or the forests. So she was a lot more alert than usual. "Byakugan." She muttered under her breath, as the veins of her kekkei gekkai formed around her eyes. Instantly what she could see shifted, colour replaced with black and gery. She heard Kannagi speak as she was scanning the surroundings. Six...she figured that if each of them took on two they would be finished quite quickly. Her chakra was concentrating to her hands as she would move backwards, the trio's backs to each other in somewhat of a circle, each of them facing one direction.
    Ami would unsheathe her katana, the metal more than audible as it slid effortlessly against the inside of her sheathe, and she would run forward, her eyes only looking at the two hyenas in front of her. Right, she wasn't going to let them pass her, just as Kannagi said. The girl numped up, her right hand aiming the sword at a vertical slash to one of the hyenas' head. She would feel and watch the blade connect with flesh and bone, blood from the creature spilling all over her and the ground. She didn't just stop there though. The Hyuuga would descend from her jump, her left hand pulling out two shuriken from her weapon pouch. Her Byakugan now completely focused on the chakra points of the remaining animal, she threw her shiriken piercing the tendons in its legs.
    And with that she would finish the injured hyena off with a swift yet lethal slash of her blade. She had fought so many animals by now that her flaws in combat were replaced with sharp agility. The creature gave something of a moan as it crashed to the ground and Ami would frive her katana straight down piercing it's heart. It was not every day she fought so fiercely, and she definitely looked a little unhinged getting off the body of the dead creature, most of her clothes covered in its blood. She would look to see how the others were doing.
    Hideous Heinous Hyenas Empty Re: Hideous Heinous Hyenas
    Post by Faustein Uchiha Wed Jun 17, 2020 3:14 am
    Before too long, the hyenas had apparently encircled the trio and so, Faustein fell into line with Kannagi and Ami, forming the roughly triangular battle formation wherein each of the three had their back to the other two such that each was covering one direction. Then, the battle began with Kannagi leading off by counterattacking two of the six hyenas which had charged at her. From what Faustein could deduce by observing her in action, she was probly a wind release user, given that she had fired off a series of wind blades or vaccum blades at the beasts. Luckily, these blades made quick work of the hyenas as they ripped and shredded them to death.
    How intriguing indeed, wind users are said to be rare among the elemental types, so this is a true treat.
    Then, as Faustein watched, it was apparently Ami's turn next to be attacked and to counterattack in turn. She too finished off the two hyenas that attacked her with a swift combination of sword slashes and shuriken throws guided of course by her bloodline trait, the far-famed Byakugan. Hence, there were the last two of the six total hyenas remaining and these two seemed to hesitate, as if they had been intimidated by the swift, and rather violent deaths of the rest of their pack at the hands of Faustein's two kunoichi mission partners.
    Now this is truly irksome indeed. Why must these two be so cowardly? Then again, maybe they have lost their nerve upon seeing the deaths of their packmates. Oh well, it is only natural, perhaps, as it is the logical thing to do in this type of situation. In thaat case, a smoke bomb should be able to smoke them out and herd them towards me. Once they do, it would perhaps be possible for me to use their momentum against them by simply holding my katana outward.
    Faustein mused silently as he observed the last two hyenas hiding some paces away from him. After a few moments of devising the plan, he took out a smoke bomb from his ninja gear pouch and hurled it at the spot where he could discern the two hyenas as they hid from him and his colleagues. Upon impact, the smole bomb released a thick cloud of smoke which irritated the sensitive noses of the hyenas and sent them dashing towards him, naturally in an attempt to escape the burgeoning smoke cloud.
    Phase 1, complete. Phase 2 commencing operation
    Faustein thought with a smirk as he unsheathed the katana and drew it from out of his white lab coat. Then, he extended it forward while taking a bracing stance to steady the weapon in anticipation of the incoming impact. The first of the two hyenas came charging at him while flailing its head about this way and that. Consequently, it could not dodge the katana's razor sharp blade and thus, slammed into it headlong with a sickening thud. The katana blade was thus driven deep into the beast's head and pierced through the entirety of its head before exiting out the back, killing the unfortunate beast instantly. Whilst this was happening, his face contorted into a rather disturbing deranged grin and he even uttered a brief mad, sadistic chuckle during this process as if reveling in the carnage all around him. However, since he knew the second was on its way, he calmed down and wasted no time in drawing his katana out of the first hyena's corpse and swinging it to the side sharply to clean off the blood from it.
    One threat neutralized, one more remaining.
    Faustein thought silently and he spun to the side to first avoid the initial charge of the last hyena and then on the return curve of the spin, he used the rotational momentum to power his thrusting attack aimed at the beast's brainstem, or more specifically where the base of the hyena's head met the initial portion of its neck. Sure enough, his attack against it struck true, plunging the cold steel blade of his katana deep into its neck and severing the connection between its brain and its spinal cord in mere moments, killing it as well. Here, once again, that same deranged grin and sadistic chuckle overtook his face and voice, but as before, it too was quite brief in duration. After it passed, he returned to normal again, with his impassive expression. Then, as he came to a halt, Faustein pulled out katana from the second hyena's corpse which caused it to slump to the ground a few paces away from its companion which was also dead, cleaned off the blood by swinging the blade down and to the side, and then sheathed it once more, in one smooth, continuous motion. Sadly, despite how careful he had been to avoid staining his white coat, there was still some blood stains splashed over it from his own hyena encounter and killing. He sighed as he examined the stains, and then turned to Kannagi and Ami, remarking with the polite smile and impassive, inscrutable expression
    "Well now, that was mildly entertaining. What say we return to collect the mission reward and then celebrate mission completion? Perhaps even at the village tavern?"
    He suggested and then fell silent, wondering what the two young women would do or say in response to his suggestion.
    Kannagi shrugged at her partner's request, moving to decline of course. She stopped halfway through however and changed her mind, "I don't think it's such a wise idea. But then, both of you impressed me with your bladed skills." The blue eyed woman looked them both over and closed her eyes with a little chuckle and an amused grimace, "If I'm going to have a drink with the both of you, perhaps you can at least clean up first. Peroxide takes blood stains right out," She advised. Kannagi rarely gave compliments, but then she was rarely invited to drink after a mission. The kunoichi started back out of the grassy dry conditions of the plains and gestured for the others to join her. She had no blood upon her at all, thanks to her jutsu not being so up close and personal as their blades. "I'll buy the first bottle of sake if a bath behooves either of you~" Kannagi added walking away.
