"For better or worse; I got you!"
There had been reports. Many reports. All of them were alarming.
There had been an abundance of wild animals that were within the regions as of late. The Sun Shinobi had been careful to mobilize their own ninja to go out into the wilds where a bunch of beasts were roaming the lands. Fiends would become particularly attracted to a source of energy that seeped from around the area and would focus around certain key points of the Sun Village’s reaches. The shinobi had gathered a lot of intel over the past few days concerning the creatures that were reacting to the signature energy that was unusual for Chakra that seeped through the area. Finally, there was one logical conclusion that was causing the beasts to stir.
“Senjutsu Chakra?” He would remember the reports clearly. “As in...Sage energy?” He would recall the energy seeping all over the place of the fabled Rabbit’s Ravine. It was a place of rumor where the rabbit summons would come from originally. Simple little stories just like the man spoke of that was before Hikari. His eyes would be set on their path while the rabbit’s ears were widespread listening to a story while at the same time listening to his bizarre story. Not a single one of the cliffs were topped with the presence of the stray beasts that were usually around the area.
“Well, yes! Have you not heard little bunny girl?” Hikari tempted to correct the man. However, he decided against it as he was, after all, getting a story in exchange. “There are Sages of the land that came into existence with the Gods...or so they say. The beasts of the land used this energy to shape themselves to look human. They have all sorts of powers and abilities that helped them defend their families and their lands. Not to mention that they were even shaping themselves to the point that they almost looked to resemble humans in form. Some even say that is where some human beings come from.”
Hikari had frowned hearing the man’s story. At this point, he was spouting nonsense that almost sounded familiar. The matriarchs of the Usagi Clan often spoke aloud how the rabbits were their Gods. The villages even spoke of their own deities that were said to reside over them. However, to think that animals birthed human beings? It was a silly little statement that Hikari listened to as he escorted the old man. Each knock of the walking stick seemed to be leading Hikari on the path. His ears listening to the surrounding areas loud with hisses and coos of wild beasts.
Crazy he may have been, there was one truth, and that was the animals and beasts of the land had indeed been acting out. There was an energy that was seeping throughout the area that would drive them mad and even alter their forms. Thinking about it, Hikari would frown recalling that these incidents had begun to happen ever since Banira had been spotted in the Sand Village borders mowing down beasts and striking down enemies. There were even reports of a giant clam that went on the offense near the beach. How absurd was that for a story?
“We are here!”
Hikari would stop short of where the man had stood in the mouth of the village he entered. An outskirt camp that was on the way between the Sun Village and the border that seemed to be lively. The man would turn around handing Hikari the payment as promised for the Sun Shinobi. The crickling envelope would touch his palm as he would clasp it and tuck it away into his kimono. The man’s story, honestly, was payment enough. Turning his nose back to the path and lifting it to the sky, the young violet haired boy had begun to wonder if there was any truth to the situation regarding the beasts and their natural energy that ripped through the land driving things into chaos.
