The Mochi Thief (OPEN) (No Killing)

Post by The Akiha on Thu Aug 23, 2012 4:21 am

Eggs. Across the counter. In the bag. Done.
Bread. Across the counter. In the bag. Done.
Rice. Across the counter. In the bag. Done.
Mochi. Across the counter. Swiped by small hands. Do-

A head of grass green hair shifted just slightly as a pale hand shot out lighting fast. The offender was pulled up by the back of their jacket to be at face level with the robbery victim.

Clear golden eyes leveled blankly on the assailant’s. “Put it in the bag.”

The young boy wasted no time in obeying, immediately reaching a hand over and dropping said good into said bag. His little hands were brought back to his sides in little fists and his eyes began to water, but he furiously blinked them away. The green haired one, obviously a shinobi, nodded once.

Then they noticed a figure come up behind the boy in a motherly fashion, all demands and outrage. The shinobi handed the boy to its mother.

“Take your spawn.” Perhaps the monotone dead tone shut her up. Or the ordeal of the actual action of taking her son, about 5 or so, from a mid-air grip. Either way, the shinobi didn’t care. Instead they leveled their sunlit gaze on the parent. Immediately the woman knew who the shinobi was.

“Akiha-sama. I’m sorry about Taro. I didn’t-“

“Put him in the ninja academy. He is quick and strong willed.” She could care less about apologies. After issuing her opinion on the matter of the boys’ talent, she took her bag and then took her leave.

Outside, a hulking lupine was waiting patiently for her. She nodded to the wolf, causing him to get up from his laying position and accompany her.

-Bad?-

The Akiha glanced at the creature who had just touched her mind. It never ceased to amaze her that the animal could sense things the way it did. The wolf’s gold eyes peered curiously into her own.

No, Raiden. No bad. Home.

At her reply, Raiden looked forward again. They continued the journey home, made longer by the backroads the shinobi chose to take instead of the quicker main streets. The paths she chose were akin to nature paths, and ran along much of the wall around Konohagakure. They opened up at certain places and let out at others, but she had become well versed in their layout and used them to get most places. Often the paths were overgrown and shaded by the trees but they were as far from the main roads as one could get while still being in the village. Around the people. She shivered involuntarily and it wasn’t because of the weather, which was clear as a bell and relatively sunny.

Touching the child had triggered memories that flashed across her mind as the boys’ small body had hung there. Vulnerable and soft. Unaware that at any moment and with only a twitch of her hand, he’d have been a charred mess on the floor. For a moment, the store had become the battleground she’d just come home from.

Black. Ashes. Pieces of what used to be shop owners. Mothers. Fathers. And then there were the children. She hadn’t known there would be children inside. The Akiha’s hands tightened around her grocery bags, a pressure welling up within her chest. Half of her wanted to scream, the other half wanted to laugh like a madman. She did neither, simply walking quietly towards her estate.

Kousuke enjoyed the fresh unaltered waft, as it began to stride wildly around the area. The shinobi of the ice was currently on stand by within the organization known as the Akatsuki. Kousuke's eyes could see his familiar marching toward her residence. She probably didn't expect to see the man so soon, as life of a shinobi is unpredictable. Kousuke himself wasn't the romantic type of guy, but he was dependable. The Yuki arose to his feet, and bowed towards the vixen as he withdrew her items from her. He said nothing to her, he would stay silent until spoken to, he curiously peaked inside the grocery bag hoping to reveal it's contents. His eyes met that of lower species, named Raiden, and it looked back, but not at Kousuke, but at Hissori as it landed upon his shoulders.

He was waiting when she got back. It was odd. Not that he was waiting for her return, as this had been the case before. But that this man’s entire being was so removed from what she had been previously accustomed to. The space he filled had no relation at all to the space that was so brutally voided years ago. She inhaled, slowly taking in the scent of the things now familiar to her. Home, Raiden, and him.

She bowed back to him and didn’t protest as he took the bag and looked inside. It was nothing special. Just some things to make a meal with. She’d planned to catch something for the meat, probably fish. Perhaps he was planning to stay, she wasn’t sure as he’d not been there when she’d awoken earlier. She’d noticed the wolf staring at the man’s familiar and moved one hand slightly to brush Raiden’s ebony ruff.

Raiden good? Her response was a cold nose nuzzling her hand. He was fine.

She would have preferred to stay silent but she needed to know if she would be cooking for him as well.

“Are you staying?”

Kosuke's migrated over towards the veneer uplifting the seal as the breeze flowed inside the estate of The Akiha. He turned his head towards her eyes looking into hers as he utterance was released, and he replied.

"I'm on hiatus. All of my assignments are complete. I'd like to spend the nights with you for a while. Do you accept?"

He asked as he held out his left palm towards her hoping she would take his hand as a yes. Kousuke had hoped they could spend some time together, something a simple as fishing, working together to prepare their meal, that's what he hoped for, but if she rejected him. The ninja would leave immediately, and return to the base until he had to erase his existence once more for a time.

She looked from his eyes at the raised hand as he spoke. It had always been odd to her, the whole holding hand thing that couples did. She supposed that they had been…in a relationship for long enough that this sort of thing wasn’t exactly rare. Still, the act of touching another for comfort or affection was still somewhat alien to the green haired kunoichi even after all this time. Regardless, she took it so he’d know he wasn’t being rejected.

For a moment she wasn’t sure what to say. He was so rarely on hiatus and when he was they didn’t often spend multiple nights in a row together. Perhaps that was her own fault. She kept herself as busy as he body could withstand, and sometimes went beyond even that. Anything to keep the emptiness away. Yet… for some reason the occasions where the emptiness and white hot need to destroy was quieted were for two reasons. The first was that she was currently fulfilling the need to annihilate everything in her path. The second was when the man beside her now was filling that space instead. Very odd. Somewhat unsettling as well but she understood her body’s limitation. She couldn’t burn the whole world down. Yet.

She nodded to his question. Having another living thing in the manor besides her faithful wolf might not be a bad thing. At least the man was quiet and very satisfying in certain aspects. Upon thinking about that last part a bit more, she no longer wanted to go out and spend her time catching something for dinner when she could be doing some much more preferable. Perhaps she had meat in her fridge already.

“Are you hungry?” She asked as she turned her attention inward. The clothes she wore now were the same she’d returned from the mission in. Her body was filthy, covered in smatterings of soot, ash, and blood. Who knew what the rest of her flesh beneath the black suit looked like. A shower was needed before she did anything.
